I hope it's a 29, 'cos then I'm going to swap it with the D35 on the 4x4!
Even if it's not a 29-spline, swap it! If you need to later you can upgrade it to 29-spline internals like I did with mine. The 35 is a turd, rid it!

Maybe I can convince Clayton to sell me just the bar and axle bushing since I already have the JJ end at the frame...
Just get some 1.5" 1/4 wall and a set of bungs and weld it up easy as pi

yea I was thinking about that, but don't have a welder. I think i'm gonna give Ironman Andy a call and see what he can whip up for me.

The lower JJ is welded to the tube so that one's pretty much a loss...not too sad since I would have had to make a custom axle mount to fit it anyways...oh well.

Really? People have told me it couldn't be done. Simply, anyway. That the carrier had to be changed out and that it would be easier and cheaper to just find a D44 to swap in. How did you do it?

Default I need help. I coulnt figure out how to start my own thread. BEARING HUMMING PROBLEM!

Okay. My jeep had a humming noise coming from the driver side rear wheel. My friend replaced the "bad bearing" and the noise was still there. I was then told to use a bearing buddy. Come to find out that is not what I need and wont really help my problem. Second I was told to replace my hub? I dont even have a hub in rear. So now I am royally confused. I am also being told it could be my tire. Please help me fellow jeep owners I have nowhere else to turn!!.
p.s. My dad said I have to replace the whole rear end? ahh!

could be. When the gears start to go out they whine. Take off the diff cover and inspect the gears for damage.

Got my build sheet for my XJ today. 98 sport 5spd manual but still has power everything, heated mirrors and 8.25 rear axle. Weird combo to me haha

Nothing today (except to take it to the Shack to buy parts for my ham radio repair), but I've decided to change the diff oil in the 4x2 tomorrow. While I'm doing that, I might as well pull a shaft and solve the mystery of 27 or 29 splines! Sure hope it's as easy as everyone says it is!
