Goin to tear the interior out of the jeep this weekend and start pre wiring some stuff, cleaning the carpet and look for more rust. Goin to rhino line the roof, paint the pillars and top of hatch, do new lift gate struts and install one of the 2 sets of a pillar light mounts and lights. Proly put some yellow fogs on bumper and do some led strips on the interior for new dome lights and aux lighting. Proly take the headliner out and re do it of not leave it out all togeather and rhino line the inside.

I took my XJ out on its first drive at real Highway speeds since owning it. Had a Dr Appt which was an hour and a half away. I've discovered my XJ doesn't like freeway speeds much. I stayed in the right lane at about 70 mph and it handled ok,felt a little like it was struggling,it hunted through the gears as well. Above 70 mph,it shimmied and rattled. But it made the trip up and back home without breaking down,so that's a plus.
While I was out of town,I went to the CB shop and had my radio looked at. Ended up with a different antenna, the guy said my 3 ft unit was too short...so I bought a cheap 4 ft unit.

Here I thought my radio didn't work...it works, there's just not many people on the air much these days.

Well after much driving of the newly built XJ, I realized a very annoying wallowing grindy/vibrational noise...lol its hard to describe. It sounded like it was coming from the front passenger side and would seem to be really noticeable around 25 mph and up and when you let of the gas...I thought it was most likely the U joints and Wheel bearing hub assembly. I did a bunch of forum research and found that its a very common problem amongst us XJers. So I was convinced I had pinpointed the problem out of the dozen or so possible reasons for it. So today I made a trip to Advanced and picked up some new ones, one for the driver side..might as well and some U joints for both sides. Got it taken apart and found that my wheel bearing was NOT bad, but still could be replaced and the U joints were worn and rusty as hell, but no play in those either. So now I think I spent $270 for nothing... but since i had it out i replaced it... and returned the other one. So now I was pissed... back to square one and poorer than before. I took it for a drive to really try and listen and feel where it was coming from. The tires are 33x12.50R15 BFG M/T's...and they are not all evenly worn. They are loud vibrating tires and I new they had something to do with it also. So I said F*&% it and went and had the tires balanced. Well the guy told me that the dry rot cracks between the tread would render balancing useless, and the uneven wear on a couple of them also renders balancing useless. So I asked about some used A/T's and he pointed me in the direction of M&0 Tires here in Greeley. I went there asked for a set of used 33 A/T's and low in behold, they had one set of almost new 33x12.50R15 A/T's. He sold them to me, mounted, and balanced them for $285. The noise and vibrations are FRICKIN GONE!!! The driving and ride quality is night and day to what it was and I couldn't be more stoked...like a ginormous weight off my shoulders...im sorry, things like that will eat at me and drive me nuts if I don't figure them out and fix it. Today was a good day. VICTORY IS MINE!!!
