That is an Emsco Tiger Shark 9 foot sit in kayak. It is the first one I have ever bought and I didn't even know there was a difference between ocean kayaks and lake or river ones! Kind of a newbie to this! Gonna try it out tomorrow for the first time if weather permits.

The latch on the rear hatch for mine came apart inside the door the day after I replaced the strong arms . I left it that way for like 5 months as it was winter and I didn't want to freeze to death fixing it.

Took it over to my buddy's house the other day to finally deal with it and then other stuff happened.

First thing that rear bumper has to come off as you can't get the the latch from the inside unless it's open of course. Was a super pain to get a wrench inside that thing so we started drilling holes.

Then we cut the holes into these rectangles for reasons we didn't really understand. It seemed like the best way to fit a ratchet in there to get to the bolts. Put the jack on cinder blocks and jacked up the left side of the bumper as the guy I bought it from bent the crap out of it at some point and this was the best way I could think of to bend it back. It's not perfect by any means but it's way better than it was.

Once you get it off you can get at these 2 nuts down here and release the latch from the vehicle which will take a whole lot of kicking from the inside and pulling from the outside and maybe a crow bar who knows. That thing will come open eventually if you remove those though.

We drilled some holes in these projections that come out from the frame and then went to the auto parts store and I saw these cargo mount things for truck beds that looked like they would fit right into the rectangles we cut out of the bumper. They aren't tough enough to tow anything heavy with but I'm thinking of doing something with bungie cords or a cargo net on the back that I can attach to these things plus we figured we could pull people around on sleds behind it once it snows again in the field beside the barn.

Then I put a 4 port DC power supply in the back. This is not an original idea of mine, I saw it on some other site when I was searching for cheap things to do to my Jeep so I don't want to take credit for it. Anyway I thought it was cool and I've also got a 400 watt inverter with a watt digital watt meter on it that's going to be mounted right next to it so I can have 2 power outlets in the back as well. I've got an air compressor for tires that can plug in right there to inflate rear tires and the one up front reaches to the front tires. Then I drove the thing all the way to Valparaiso, IN to buy 3 kayaks. One is yellow and one is green and one is orange and the yellow and green one's I am giving to my brothers but I kept the orange and mounted that thing on top!

Went to Menard's to buy a chain and one of those rubber coated master locks to lock it on the Jeep so no jack-*** can steal it from me to easy if I keep it up there for a while. I destroyed the front license plate when I drove it up that tree a few months ago so that is still just zip-tied to the front grill which is lousy, but I am waiting for this guy in Schaumberg to make me a new front winch bumper as I have a winch I want to put on once he finishes making it. Trying to decide if I want to paint those cargo rings on the back bumper black which I think I will. Just glad everything is back in working order now.
Just a heads up, you can get to it from the inside, I've done it a few times
