I have heard and read that when below 1/2 tank the fuel pump runs warmer because the original design was to rely on fuel around pump to keep it cooler. And the hotter and longer the pump is run the shorter the life span .

Running a vehicle too low on gas is bad for the fuel pump because of sediment build-up in the tank. Doing it just a couple of times won't kill it, but don't make a habit of it. It will also clog your fuel filter and what does make it past the filter will clog the injectors.

I've never heard anything about it overheating or shortening its lifespan due to lack of fuel around it, but I have heard stranger things.

I think that's what the strainer on the fuel pump is for.

Fitted another new battery (the previous new one was killed by a short in the alternator) and cursed because it had the terminals the wrong way round so it's a mess under the bonnet again, just like it was when I first bought it.

But she starts, and runs and now she charges like a champ - 14V on the nail at idle (without aircon).

I think they would lay down a lot flatter if you put double sided tape on the odometer cut outs.

Well I got a template for the gauges and I did some editing on photoshop. I agree with the double sides tape but it was like 95* right now and I didn't think about it.

Oh well it looks pretty good. As for my little project I have going on. Will these brackets be fine for a rock slider? I noticed that most have them on the out side not inside the pinch seam.

As long as they attach to the pinch weld inside or out they will be fine
