Simple Green is amazing. Just don't drop your phone in a bucket of it.

Wouldn't power wash an engine anyways. Get the stuff from Walmart that he's talking about! I've used it as well. And hide the WD40 from your dad.

lol WD40 is very common for the use his dad used it for - prevents corrosion in an engine where the ports are open to air/moisture (like when rebuilding it)

I take is you dropped you phone in it. Will Simple Green hurt the engine if i spray it on anything like exhaust and intake ports, water pump hole, thermostat hole, timing chain, etc.

no - it's just a degreaser, and it's biodegradable.

That being said, you need to cover the ports anyways to paint it, just cover them now before you clean it, or at least throw some tape over them.

So today, what I am doing with my Cherokee is I am changing the alternator. Joy. I've only ever changed the air filter on a car, but this is my new project. Anyone have any pointers?

remove the battery and battery tray - it needs to be pulled out from the TOP (it doesn't have the room to drop down)

Get a Hanes manual lol. They can walk you through most everything. Plus they've got pictures, and I like pictures.

I got the battery out, but the battery tray seems to be stuck for life in the darned thing. I got most of the wiring un-bolted and now I'm working on the belt and the other bolts. Too bad I don't have any upper body strength. (Guess I will after all of this.)
