lol... that's what fast payday loans are for.

on topic: did a Gunk engine flush in the WJ, drained it and filled it up with 5 quarts of fresh oil and then a quart of MMO... we'll give it a couple of weeks and then see if the lifter noise is gone.

Yup... didn't have a quart on hand. I'm real familiar with doing this... I was helping my grandfather and uncle rebuild an engine that was caked with sludge... emptied all of the oil and filled it with ATF... let it idle for two hours and then drained it again. When we opened it up, the inside was so clean we only had to hit it with some degreaser in a couple of spots.

Grandfather was doing it again one day but didn't like the motor that was in it... my uncle and I walked away for a couple of minutes, heard him rev it, and then heard a loud squeak... lol, he revved up the engine on purpose and spun the bearings... wound up throwing a 305 IROC engine in it instead.

Good times.

Do it. I add a quart 200 miles before my oil changes. Keeps my engine nice and clean. And I'm at 412k all original.

the quart, yes... the full drain and tranny fluid only while letting it idle... it's risky... I would only do it around a mechanic that knows what he's doing... that way it can be monitored closely...

Sweet man... Can't wait until I'm in my new house and can work on stuff at night without worrying about waking a neighbor up.
