Got the head back on and it sounds better but now theres a newly noticeable problem of high idle when I have the map sensor connected to the intake manifold but until I figure that one out heres a pic of the end result

Went to the stealership with a list of part numbers for hoses for the open cooling system conversion. After the first two 8-digit numbers I read, the guy asked if they were all gonna be heater hoses. I was impressed by his knowledge. When I finished reading all the numbers, he said, "You know those aren't all for the same year XJ. Some of those are for High Output motors." All that without touching the computer, and he even said XJ. Made me happy.
Besides that, I bought a new '92 radiator and a new water pump.
