What did you do to your Cherokee today?
Had some "free oil change" coupons from the Ford dealership where I bought my mustang from a few months ago. Figured I'd use up one of them on the Jeep since it needed an oil change and I really didn't feel like doing it myself this time (for the record this is the very first time I haven't done my own oil change, ever.) So after work I went in to pick it up after the oil change was done, get in, fire it up and it seemed to run a little bit..different. Popped the hood and found the tech had "accidently" popped off a plug wire on the distributor.. He also popped the vacuum line off the heater control valve, but he must have realized this because he then plugged it onto the metal bar coming out of the valve, rather than the vacuum diaphram its supposed to be on..
sigh.

Installed a set of two inch lift shackles on the back, sits a little better now. Leaves are flat. Got some two inch pucks for the front, not sure if I'm gonna put them in yet or not. Will be higher in the front than back.

Got it all jacked up and tires off to be worked on
Couldn't resist painting the shocks even though they're older. One had been scuffed to bare metal and I didn't want them to rot out as soon as I hit a salted road.
We (me and my dad) made the upper shock mount brackets. Got them all welded up
Then ran out of wire. So tomorrow morning I'm going to go get wire and get these damn upper mounts on. I'm tired of riding with out shocks in the rear.

Drove her a couple hundred miles today to attend my cousin's wedding at the Nixon Presidential Library. First time I've driven her long distance since the tune-up (new Champion plugs, MSD 8.5 wires, and Summit Racing distributor cap). Got 16.5 mpg out of her! And that's with the rack & tire on the roof! I sound excited because in town, she makes 12 mpg. Maybe I'll be lucky and the extended drive & Lucas fuel additive will have blown out any blockages. One can only hope.

Wiped a little phosphoric acid on a small rust spot I got on the fender from bending it back with pliers. Got the rust off, touched it up with some Chrysler paint. Good as new!
