I was thinking 16 gauge sides and expanded metal bottom.

Depends on how you gusset it, 16 ga sides will fold in if something hits it ie highlift, Sparta tire, tree branch

It would have to be a half rack cause the plasma table is only 48" x 48"

Mounted my highlift to my front bumper and added a front recovery point. After this last time getting stuck I realized I need better recovery points and a winch. And the 100' of chain I got the other day.
