Spent 2 hours replacing the drum brake hardware on one side, spent half that time trying to get the new shoes to fit. After a while i decided **** it and put the old shoes back on. but the handbrake works a little better now!
Just for future reference, what part number are the shoes? '92 Dana35

Blasted through snow. Got her into and out of a pretty decent ditch. Slipped and slided all over the mountain road. All in all. I fell in love with my xj all over again

Which reminds me, i almost killed my neighbor. He came speeding down my street in his little Hundai or w/e, locked and went sideways, almost took out the Jeep and an F-350. Then i went off and had some fun in the snow too :P

Slipping and sliding all over the roads. Might take it out and do some light snow wheeling tonight. Maybe find a person or two along the way to pull out of a ditch or somethin.

transfercase swap
I did the 231 to 242 transfercase swap. Pulled one the same year out of a u-pull it yard for $50. hoping I would get the same spline count which I did, tore it down and checked everything out, new gaskets and seals. Started at 10:00 a.m. and finished at 4:00 p.m. with a lunch brake. Gotta admit it was a pleasurable job. Did it in my grease pit. No snafews, same rear driveshaft length and no rusted bolts or skinned knuckles. I'll wire up the dash lights later when I replace the radio. It is a bit trickier to get out of full time or part time than the 231 but that is the nature of the beast. I use this everyday 50 miles round trip for work and encounter various road conditions and was a pain shifting in and out of 4 wheel drive, now I just put it in fulltime and forget it. I love it.
