Let it sit over night bc It wouldn't start a half hour later.. battery was charged.. then the next day it started.. but it was... Really rough.. I drove it around for like an hour but everytime I came to a stop I could feel the motor shaking violently and stroking slow and out of order... Almost brings tears to the eye... Anyway hope the dealer can figure out what happened to it.
Didn't see you post a result yet, but this same thing happened to me... hopefully the dealership didn't feed you a story about needing to replace something...

When the battery goes dead, the computer goes back to a default state and has to relearn your engine, for lack of better wording... basically it will go away after about half a dozen or so starts... I've killed my battery 3 times and every time it does this.... and every time it fixes itself

lol.... you said "batch"

So that's cool man, you about to ship 'em out yet? I'm lookin forward to getting mine... never did wind up getting a lift, but I did just get a free set of springs front and rear the other day... from what I've read, the stock coils are 17" and these appear to be about 18" so I'm thinking/hoping they're upcountry springs...

they seem to be in pretty good shape

The leafs have a little rust on them, but not too terribly bad.. looks like they may have been laying on their side in a puddle somewhere

still have the factory paint markings on them though -

I'm pretty sure I have a 16 gallon tank not a 20 gallon because everytime I fill it up I can always put 17 gallons in it. Unless I think i am empty when in reality there is still 3 gallons left. Either way every time I put 17 in so the math works out anyhow

It's 20, but there's a fill check (forget the right term) at the top to prevent overfilling. XJ tanks have a particularly long tube there, and it prevents a complete fill.

My Comanche on the other hand got 23.5gal from empty in my 23gal tank

Finally started serious work on my new to me XJ, removed the faulty alarm system, removed the annoying buzzer, fixed the stereo, got all the windows and locks and the switches in the doors working, STILL trying to work out why it won't start from the key, got my A/C regassed ( still hot here in Perth after our hottest summer on record ) in exchange for 2 std rims and tyres and the computer from my parts jeep, started to remove both of my steering boxes.
Try to finish that tomorrow and remove the windscreens.
If I can finish all of that I will start investigating how to remove that horrible, dangerous ABS system.

Ok that's some good info. Do you know if over filling causing fuel to be stored in the neck can cause any deterioration to the filler neck?

I don't know about that, but the purpose of preventing the top-off is to leave room for expansion in heat.

Bypass ABS by pulling the ABS fuse...unless you need to remove the equipment for some reason.

Verify with someone who has had ABS, but I think it's that simple.
