Took my xj to my mechanic to replace my a/c pump (because I don't wanna deal with the freon) and got a call saying he has to order the "aftermarket" pump that I have ..... I thought this sounded a bit odd so I went down there and asked him to clarify what in the hell he ment by aftermarket. He then showed me a pump he had orderd and the difference between it and the one in my xj.. He said the pump he orderd is what the computer/ parts store called for and mine was different. He said someone must have changed things around and he was having a hard time finding the one in my xj. He pointed out the differences both on the pumps themselfs and on the computer. I understood what he was saying and it all looked like his train of thought was correct, but then...... He said " This is a Grand Cherokee right?" ........ I looked at him blankly for a second and said NO its a Cherokee.
So "we" looked up the pump for a Cherokee and guess what we found? Yes there it was, the correct pump. I gave him a little ribbing about it and plan to give some more. He's a great mechanic and a good guy he just had one of those days today I guess. I should have it back Saturday.

Half done with the new coils & new-to-me shocks project. Moog CC782 and JK Rubicon shocks.
The CC782 is waaaay beefier than the OEM coil, and about an inch taller unloaded. The JK shock is way beefier than OEM too lol. As to whether the front or the rear install is harder/easier ...it's a toss-up. There's gotcha's on both; the coils takes as much futzing as the leafs to get them in place.
I cannot imagine how hard it is to do a real lift though: y'all have more perseverance than I do for sure for sure. 1 inch plus is hard enough.
Tomorrow afternoon I should be able to get to the passenger coil, and it should go faster (like the rear leafs, the first coil taught me what to do, and what not to do, when it comes to the second one lol).
And other than doing a final torque check all the way around, I'll see if spacers are going to be necessary (I'll give the the rear leafs a month to settle in before I make that call though).
I'll have before & after pix eventually too lol.

Discovered my manche has quite some wiring problems. Took a few fuses to get gauges, brake lights and turns. Got a melted blower fuse to remove tomorrow. And find out why I have no parking lamps.
No, I don't lick fish.

Here's a side-by-side comparison with the stock coil on the left, the CC782 in the center, and a JK Rubicon coil on the right. The Moog is just hell-a stout.
The combo (Moog CC782 and Crown 4886186AA) supposedly provide the same lift as the factory Upcountry option (I tried to spec coils & leafs to that package) ...and that one inch of lift (fr & rr) was pretty much what I had in mind ...but I'm eventually going to hang a winch on the front too, and figured HD springs would probably help.
The primary consideration was that the original suspension was totally worn out at 150K though, so I figured anything I did had to be an improvement lol.
(As to it being too stiff due to the component mix ...well, I've never been in another Cherokee, so I wouldn't know enough to be bothered lol.)
