I want to do a very light shade of VHT nightshade on my markers and tail lights. very light on the back. but I do want the front ones to be kind of dark, but still orange. probably do angry eyes at the time as well.

DOT lighting requirements are nation-wide. I used to test light output against DOT requirements and most factory lighting from the 80's and 90's barely passed as they were. The slightest amount of tint greatly effects the candela output. Additionally, there are color requirements that are not being met once you change the hue of the light output.

Granted, no police officer knows what the output requirements are or has a method of testing for them, they just know "black-outs" are illegal. Chances are you won't have any problems with the law, but if you run up against the kid who's lunch money you used to steal on duty and he's bored...

Why don't you just remove all the bulbs? Seems cheaper for a similar effect

Idk if its illegal here. But they don't seem to care as long as you can still see them light up and everything

Exactly why i hate them. I like it when other people can see my stop/turn lights, and i like it when i can see other peoples stop lights from the corner of my eye and see their turn signals. These old jeeps already have dim enough lights as is.

Anyways on this note, does anyone know where i can get LED lights that have the OEM look? Like Clown has on his Z28.

MD state law says they need to be visible from a certain distance when lit. Doesn't say you can't modify or replace factory lighting. Ohio is the same way as far as I know.

Woah now, I don't have them yet. $300 kit. I don't know of any for the XJ, but I was about to mention those. I originally wanted them so I could keep using the blackout light covers that came with it and still be noticed. I decided to stop using those covers, but I still want LEDs for better visibility.

I don't want anyone to have any excuse if they rear end my vehicle.
