i fail to see how a 2wd XJ is faster or more economical than a 4wd XJ in 2HI mode...

The only difference in the two I noticed was after I did my front axle there was a 200lb difference with more drag up front.

Essentially no difference, certainly not a huge mpg one.

Your scale must be off...the dana30 doesn't even weigh 200lb full of fluid

D30, driveshaft, transfer case, different transmission. I would think it would add up close to that.

D30 + drive shaft + transfer case vs a 'fake' axle? Yeah there are some weight savings there. Also less parasitic loss unless you've done a locking hub conversion.

Isn't our parasitic loss negligible in 2HI?

To most owners of 20-year old Jeeps, yes lol. Vacuum disco helps with that. It's still a good amount of rotating mass though.

Vac disco is for chumps. I'm cool enough to have a '96 axle in my '88

You ***. I would've happily kept my vac disco if it weren't for this little incident:

Mounted my console in the Jeep today. Its a little tall, but makes a comfortable armrest for me, and it was free so I cant complain. Got my Kicker ZX200.2 mounted to the back of it which will be powering my two JVC 6x9's, Sony HU in it, antenna for the radio mounted in it, and its even got cupholders

What is that console out of? And why does it look like the cup holders were a hangout spot for some gulls? (seriously it looks like a whole flock took a dump on that - how did you get mud IN the cupholders?)
