Cut front fenders and cut and folded the passenger side rear. Spent about 2 hours before the youngest son decided to let me know he was awake by screaming his head off.
Also found something that no Jeeper likes to find... I have rotted lower rear 1/4 panels. Someone put body filler over it and then painted the whole jeep black from the body line down. I always wondered why it was black, I guess i know now. Gives me a reason to do the 1/4 panel cut and fold now I guess.
I took the time to remove the passenger side front flare and then trimmed around the line it left... got to the drivers side and decided that I would try a little something different. Left the flare in place and used the sawzall to get a slit started from the bottom and then used the jigsaw to follow the shape. worked slow with hardly any pressure and just let the blade lay on the edge of the flare. I now have a perfectly flare shaped cutout on the drivers side and the passenger side is close-ish...

SSDs are fantastic. Avoid the cheap ones like the plague... I've seen a couple fail and they are not fun.
On topic: Nothing today, but arrange for a quick visit to the garage. I've got my axle shafts and knuckles cleaned and painted, new U joints waiting to be pressed in, new hubs, new oil seals.... can't get the diff out! Guy I know said it should only take a couple minutes for him to take care of the seals, will throw the hubs in temporarily, put the diff cover back on and swing by.

Just throwing this out there, the stub shaft holds the wheel bearings together. 2wd XJ's use the same wheel bearings/hubs and they have a shaft that goes in it, but has no u-joint ears. driving without the stubs is not a good idea

I did this today as well. Just need to knock the spindles off my old axle and put them on the new one since this "new" axle is out of an 88 wag and the brakes are different than my 92's and I don't want to spend like $200 on all new brake stuff

How does that trailer tow behind it? Thinking of getting a 6x10 enclosed to tow behind mine.
On topic, wheeled her yesterday. Front end needs drivers u joint and new control arm bushings. Sure makes noises in 4lo. Been a year without 4 lo and its nice to have it back. Like a new jeep again.

whoh that's a really big trailer to be loaded behind an XJ. The XJ isn't heavy enough to control that kind of a load.
I pulled a 5x10 uhaul with dual axles and THAT was all over the place behind my XJ...you need to be extremely careful with that thing - load heavy stuff toward the front.
