just got my cherokee last week. my jeep was running at about 210 so we tried adding coolant cause the level dropped. put in a new radiator, water pump, thermostat and heater core line because it was rusted. saw on a couple threads that people who had hot running engines found that changing the water pump worked so we tried that while everything out.
just started it up and its still running hot though. spent the whole day doing this **** so far and were still going at it... any ideas?
ps all parts from napa &advanced autozone. still running at about 208-210

The electric fan will kick on at about 215 degrees and cool it back down to 210.

any cooler and youll lose mileage and power, they where made from the factory to run at 210.
Ive been trying to get mine HOTTER, it only gets up to ~170..

What I did today
Spent a few hours at the local bone yard looking for a seat bracket that was not cracked or rusted out. Then spent another hour taking my passenger seat apart to fix the tilt, an replace the seat bracket. Also managed to spend 20 min's or so in a local field doing some donuts etc!!!

Yay 35's!
Does any one know if it is very important to have hub-centric fitting rims?
My hub on the axle is 3" and the rim is 3 1/8 the lugs center it up so its not off center though.

thats what the horribly loud noise is when i turn on the a/c or heat then? it just doesnt sound good though and weve never heard that before...
ive heard the cooler the better and the more miles/usage youll get out of the tranny and engine.
the jeeps still running hot after all weve done to it and we were thinking about a new temp sensor as well as a super cooler.

so weve heard that the cooler it is the better mileage, more miles, and longer lifetime youll get from it. is it just the chrysler parts that are different or what we heard was just a crock of bs?
the other thing is, its the dead of winter- lately its been below 20degrees up here. thats another reason why we were in such a hurry to cool it down. if its running at 210 whats it gonna run at when its humid and hot in the summer? wouldnt it be overworking the fan?
what your saying makes since cause from the gauge 100, 210 and 260 are the only measurements and 210s in the middle so i guess i see your point. however why would making it cooler be such a bad idea?
