Traced down a knocking /tapping noise that I could only hear inside the cab at idle. Turned out to be the ac actuator had come off the rubber mount on the firewall and was resting against the alumininum ac tubes that run between the accumulator and the evaporator under the dash. I couldn't hear it under the hood but the sound sure traveled into the cab. Sounded like a rod knock but it didn't change with raised rpm's. Took a while to find but I don't like strange unidentified noises. Checked the flex plate for cracks, removed the bolts, & applied loctite while searching for this noise. Also, put heat insulator on all the injectors today.
