Cleaned my throttle body and gotta say, what a huge difference 10 minutes of work made. Probably go back and clean the iac next.

Also noticed the small crack in my exhaust manifold has graduated to a gaping split so that has jumped to the top of the list of things to fix.

Got the cylinder head back from the shop. They said it was a little warped, so they resurfaced it. New guides and springs. They said the valves were good so they cleaned them up and re installed them.

Just finished putting everything back together. Started right up and drove fine after letting it run for about 15 minutes. It is idling at 1200 rpm. That is a little high but maybe the computer is still learning the new amount of air and fuel that are getting in unrestricted.

Only real issue is the valve cover is leaking near the back passenger side. Bolts are tight but too late tonight to fix it.

On a side note, the new APN headers were glowing red while at idle. I did not realize they got that hot at idle.

Well I haven't been driving it much at all since I bought my civic. Only about once every 2-3 weeks. Today I went to put some gas in it and wouldn't you know the azzholes took my cap and tried syphoning my tank.

Glad there had only been about 1/8th of a tank anyways.

Crocs while working with a cylinder head? Don't take out all 10 toes at once now.

Btw you're running lean.

Should write "It's a Jeep thing, don't bother" on the filler door.

Your apn header is hitting your intake manifold on the #6 cylinder intake runner. The high idle is because of the gap, it should smooth out when you fix it.

Some people beat on the header to get the tube to clear, others will grind or file either the intake or the header. I took a file to both of em.

And yes those suckers get hot, did you get any white smoke coming out of the exhaust? That should be the oil the headers were coated in burning off. It will go away.

Yes, some white smoke. I did a test fit on the bench and it was hitting on number 1 and 6. Did some grinding on the intake and some beating on the header. Number 1 grinding intake fixed it. Number 6 was a combo of both. Looked like it was good to go on the bench. I guess not.

Looks like I need to check is some more.

Thanks.

If heat is transferring from proximity, perhaps a heat shield could help? I'm not familiar with this issue, so please tell me if that's impractical.

Not really any room in there. It's tight and right up against the block so I don't think it could be done. I could be wrong and if so it would be a super tight fit.

Get some header wrap from your local parts store it sould be thin enough to wrap and not cause any issues with fitment help keep some of the temp down and its cheap

Here's a photo of where you need to file. Keep in mind the manifold is upside down in the photo.

Can't argue with those hands. Time to bust out the file, bud.
