As soon as the wallet allows, I will be changing those as well. Between the new wife, baby and pending contract on a house we are buying, the jeep comes last, at this point. I have hardly put 2000 miles on it, since purchased. I drive it once, maybe twice a week; very short distances. It runs like a champ (I have been known to be very hard on vehicles, but this guy really holds itself down) but it does have some issues that I am slowly working out.

My next move, will be to either change out the water pump pulley, the pump itself... or both. I've got a gawdawful squealing coming from under the hood and visually, it looks as if the water pump pulley is the culprit. It's the only pulley that I can see wobble as it spins.

The pump pulley just bolts to pump. If it is wobbling, then bolts are loose or pump bearing is shot.

Thanks for the input, I've gathered that the pulley just bolts to the pump by the four bolts. I am curious to know/find out which of the two it is. As it stands, I can grab the pulley with both hands and it doesn't budge. Couldn't wiggle it for nothing. Of course, I just dealt w/ my hub assemblies too. Replaced the left one first; which didn't fix the problem. So replaced the right one and the howling went away. Even spinning or rocking the wheels, they showed no signs of worn bearings.

I'd change the pulley to make sure I had good bearings.

The pulley can't go bad? Unless you hit something hard enough to bend it

???, The water pump pulley doesn't have bearings, it is just a piece of stamped steel that bolts to a shaft coming out of the pump, the only bearings are in the pump itself.

It doesn't hurt to change the idler pulley though if you don't know when it was last done while you have the belt off (it is also a good idea to change the belt to if it has been awhile or you don't know when it was last done), the idler does have a bearing and only costs about $10-$15.

Guess I'm thinking of the idler pulley.

Take the belt off and start spinning stuff to find the REAL issue.

Yeah, the ldler pulley bearing is a common bearing. Napa should have in stock for $10. Tap out old one, tap in New one. A little cheaper then buying the whole pulley.

I'm running the wrong sending unit. I think it's from a ZJ. Anyway, it's not actually running that hot.

According to my scanner, it sits around 190-210.

Wished I'd have known this yesterday, spent $18 on entire pulley at Advance Auto.

Got some new goodies for the Niner.

The last part to my audio upgrade I've been piecing together finally arrived today.

And my new Cooper AT3s arrived yesterday and I had them installed this evening. Bought online at TreadDepot, had them sent to an installer, chose NTB.
