I did to my roommate's ZJ Cherokee today.

He couldn't get her into 4Lo. Or, rather, it would shift in but, no drive. Wasn't in gear. Then couldn't get back to AW w/o turning it off, putting it in park, turning it back on, and in AWD.

It was the linkage. A plastic bushing had popped out of the bracket, passenger side. Had a hard time snapping it back in. Read somewhere that you can heat it up a bit and it'll pop right in. I did so utilizing a cigarette lighter, then prying on the linkage with a small pry bar. Worked famously. Tested it out on a new housing development retention pond. I seem to remember looking through the rear window, straight down at the ground

Oh. My 2000 XJ. Got my new valve cover gasket, PCV valve, O2 sensors (up and down), and MAP sensor. Too late in the day for fun under the hood.

They are a direct fit on the older XJ's. Just pop the old ones off, and pop the new ones on.
These are Dorman new replacements. $10 each.
Do they lift up so you can clean the windshield without holding the arm up?

Used it to pick up my teardrop travel trailer from the shop (added a 2" receiver so I could attach my bike rack). Gonna take them both to the desert this weekend. Slab City, here I come!

Just because it's moving fluid doesn't mean it's moving enough. The fact that there was salt water in there is a huge red flag.

My xj has trouble shifting in to 4 lo. The bushings on the linkage are nonexistent.. plan to either replace the bushings or upgrade to the Novak cable linkage.

Rolled 170k on my dd. Cel is for bad tranny solenoids, and intermittent cyl 3 misfire. I need to sell my other jeep so I can get those fixed.

Spent the day trying to figure out why it wouldn't start... had electrical power but no start... spent most of the day trying things till a friend suggested to remove the fuel line from the rail, make sure that wasn't clogged... checked, placed it back in and bam it turned on -.-

Didn't know about Novak. Mine pops out of 4lo. Sounds like a good idea to change it out.

Pulled motor, transmission, and transfer case out of the parts Jeep. Now need to do the same with mine and then reverse process with new motor...
