Hey guys, So I inherited a 97* (I was corrected earlier) XJ. I had a $2500 budget. So I bought the RC 4.5" lift, steel wheels, tires, rack, lights. The lift job went very well. The only thing that I was not ready for was that I had to build the control arm joints. Which was not a big deal just unexpected. I also had to remove the tow hitch to get the bolts out of the rear shackle. Everything went great until the test drive... DEATH WOBBLE is fierce. I have never experienced anything like that and almost ***** myself. It only happens between 30-45mph. We inspected everything. Made sure everything was torqued to spec but cant find anything. There are some bushings that need to be replaced on the drag link and tie rod. I am taking it in to a off road alignment shop to see if they can fix the issue. Every car has their quirk. Mine is called a death wobble and is the second scariest thing I have experienced besides tank slapping at 110 mph on a KTM 525 in the Mojave Desert. Ha!

Parked next to this guy. Kinda made me depressed. 5" lift rear and 4.5" lift front and I was barely sitting higher than him. XJ problems...

Out here on the east coast, a low roofline means you hit fewer branches on the trail. Combine that with high clearance, and you have yourself a good rig for our trails.

No doubt. We go to the river here. And cross creeks to get there. I was crossing a creek called greasy creek the other day and a vine with a diameter of 3" wrapped itself in my roof rack. I thought I was hung on a rock and when I gave it more gas it lifted the whole jeep up about 3' and threw me backwards like it was swinging on the vine. Had to use the trusty ax and chop it off. I **** you not this happened. So roof clearance means a lot here in TN.
