About 75 here today. Man, I am so glad winter is over. You can keep that cold stuff.
BTW, drove the XJ today after letting the black sealant set up for 24 hours on the timing chain cover. All is good and for now ZERO OIL LEAKS!!!!!

Just reinstalled my thermostat housing, and I'm letting the RTV finish curing overnight before I start it.
This is hopefully the end of my overheating since everything seemed good aside from the leak at the bottom of the housing. Temp was sitting steady at 195°F, and the thermostat tested good on the stove.
Tomorrow, assuming this works, all I should need to do is figure out why the ATF connection at the radiator is dripping fluid. Supposed to be in the 40s, so I decided to wait for daylight before I tackle that step.

Started pulling the transmission out of the '89 to replace the flexplate, but didn't get done today. Still gotta actually pull it out, but that's for tomorrow. Ran out of time. While connectors, bolts and small parts were being removed, I took the time to paint some of my parts, specifically the fuse box cover, airbox lid and speaker bar.

Thank you! They didn't turn out QUITE as good as I hoped, but you'd have to look close for the imperfections. Gonna do the valve cover the same color, too. Speaking of valve cover, can someone help me figure out why I'm getting oil through the hose and into the airbox? Not a lot, but enough to get the filter a little oily on the side and into the throttle body. I just cleaned it about a week ago and you'd never be able to tell now!

It's 20-something degrees outside so curing will take exponentially longer, and I'm not going out to mess with it after midnight tonight.
I applied RTV to the housing, let it sit in my apartment for about 20 minutes until it was tacky and barely sticking to my finger, and I went out and alternated turning the bolts. I went a little over the 13ft-lb spec to around 17-18, and I'm gonna be patient.
I don't want to do it again.

Don't use RTV then.
