Inspected my xj that my sister borrowed and overheated. Transmission smells burnt, there's plastic on it that melted and the breather hose area is soaked. Also has no spark. It also has a cel for a torque converter solenoid failure. It's a 2000 so I did a compression check. Numbers seem fine, third and fourth cylinders were a little lower than the rest but not by much. I think the torque converter failed to lock up, and that the Jeep didn't go into overdrive so it ran higher revs than normal, burning out the transmission which has the wrong fluid in it, also damaging the cps, putting more strain on the engine causing it to overheat.

Was going to install a T-case drop but I didn't feel comfortable trying to get those studs out, but "why would I want to lower something after I lift something" I asked myself it's kinda pointless when I have the extended driveshaft and the SYE in my room! Do you guys think it's ok to drive it until I get into a shop in probably the upcoming week?

No worries, and good call with the disc brakes.

Last year, I made the mistake of taking my old Cherokee Laredo into my local garage with a list of jobs that needed doing and then telling them I was in no rush to have it back because we were starting a building project at home....... The Portuguese being Portuguese took me at my word and the car sat there & got worked on when they nothing better to do....... 10 months later, I got it back! LOL!

In fairness, I wasn't in a rush and preferred it sat in their workshop rather than outside at my place.

Anyway, I picked it up a few days ago and and took it on a hunting trip to Castelo Branco which is about 1 1/2 hours drive away....... The car has never run better and felt like a different/new vehicle with all the T box & other problems cured.

Part of the work was to refit the side exhausts so she sounded wonderful as well!

Here's my baby just before she left South Africa and I shipped her to Portugal as part of my emigration process:

Im happy the actually did a good job. Many places hold a vehicle cause they can't find Wats wrong and won't release it.

Beautiful jeep by the way

Installed the HID headlights.
Installed the new Smittybuilt front winch bumper.
Put on a new Reese hitch in the rear.

Today I'm doing the 95 model side mirror upgrade and replacing them with 99 model side mirrors.

Default Winter Fun Day

TriCityJeepClub winter fun day. The deep damp and heavy snow did limit the events and with the hidden holes and mounds the Peep quickly hit and surpassed the buck a stuck $5 limit. Good to have some sunshine offsetting a cool breeze and smiles all round. Lots of extraction practice! Nobody broke, no Jeep left behind. Fresh pizza all round to finish the day.

Good to see some topless Jeeps out today. It is very nice down here too, snow also quite mashy.

I sprayed PB blaster on my steering components until I figured out which one was squeaking.

Turns out it is my swaybar endlink, so I sprayed some more PB blaster on it and went back inside.
