Hells yea. I used my aftermarket bumper with a ratchet strap. Done easy with all 4 wheels on the ground in park and minor choking of tires

Yes, the strap works and I use that technique but it still gives me trouble because of the 'JKS mini-skids' welded onto lower control arm mounts. These prevent the control arm from dropping down when unbolted. I have to either twist the axle or unbolt both lowers and let the axle 'roll' forward by moving the chocks. It's easily done and works good for my application. A strap would not pull the axle forward enough to clear the skids one at a time.
Some have posted about having trouble trying to use straps , figured I would offer an alternative.

I did nothing to the xj except to flip on the headlight switch and turn it off.

Roads were mostly empty, she was late for work, I lived 3 minutes from where she was.

Nope. Instead of inserting the harness on passenger side to the battery, I inserted it in the drivers side and added 6 feet of wiring on each hot lead, and added inline fuses, because it didn't come with them. Routed the wires by the firewall and hooked it up on the ANL fuse on passenger fender wall.

Wish I had read that last night! We ended up putting it on all 4 tires, backed up a little, then moved forward just a touch and it lined up perfect. What a royal PITA though!

See , you figured out an easy way. Next time will be cake.
Now you get to install and line up the track-bar. More figuring to do...

Thanks for the link, I'll have to check that out. We were thinking it was fuel related, the fuel guage on the dash is always full, and the connector to the sender was duct taped together.

My 99 has the full electric everything in the doors. My 95 just has speakers. The 95 has crank windows, manual locks and manual mirrors with broken little joysticks. Some P.O. had installed some sort of aftermarket remote locks but most of the actuators had seized and kept the locks from working, so I pulled them out. Dont think they were hooked up anymore and didn't have remotes anyway.

Went to run some errands at lunch and had a new rattle/clunk/pop coming from the front right. Got under and shook some parts and the tie-rod end that connects to the drag link is popping. ZJ replacement ordered from Napa. Got their brand with the lifetime warranty. Hope this weekends weather permits me to get it on. Cost me $139 without the drag link.

*edit: got the tie rod, adj sleeve and end.
