I guess it varies by state, but in most states the owner has the "right of first refusal" on a "totaled" vehicle so the insurance company has no choice but to sell it back if the owner wants it no matter what their policy says (though they may make you sign a waver saying you absolve them of any future responsibility related to the vehicle).

Used my $00.05/litre discount to buy it a tank of premium, first time ever. Saved a whopping $2.58 off my bill.
Pulled the upper console off in prep for VHF mount. Was going to do it in the centre console, but after a week of trying to make it work, just not going to happen.
Bought some aux switches for the ashtray mod.
