that would be difficult to swap the knuckles and the pitman arm just for inspection lol. I drilled them to 3/4 for 3/4 bolts

Default 1999 Jeep Cherokee A/C vent issue!

I have gone through all of the vacuum lines visible and cannot find the problem. The a/c air is being directed to the defroster vents and not through the dash vents UGGHH! It was 96 degrees today! The problem started when I installed the new fan motor a few days ago. The (4) fan speeds work great, just being directed to the front windshield. I have a very cold windshield! Any additional thoughts on correcting this annoying problem before I have to break down and take it to the DEALER? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Did you trace the vacuum behind the engine? I believe that's where the line to the HVAC system goes in.

And by "gone through" did you spray them with water or carb cleaner for leaks? Or just do a visual test?

Installed some EBC Slotted and blind drilled rotors with their green stuff pads. There's nothing bad I can say about this upgrade, amazing stopping power!!! Matched with stainless brake lines and rear disc swap I'm very confident in my braking system.

sounds like a bad check valve. they allow airflow in one direction and can fail causing airflow to go up to defrost vents. easiest way is t go find em, pull em and test em by blowing back and forth. don't inhale oil and grit though! and don't reinstall it backwards.. not that I'm speaking from experience here..

There are several threads on that topic. If you're mechanically inclined and you have basic tools it can be done in about 4 hours. I did the swap about two years ago and was a night and day difference, I highly recommend it.

Are you using 7/8 heims? That is too big for the stock knuckle.

3/4x3/4 Heims for the tie rod and 3/4x7/8 for the drag link.

So the kuckles are for a 5/8 bolt? A 3/4 heim uses 5/8 bolts.

Ok, a 3/4 bolt or smaller. Typically 5/8ths bolts are used in steering systemsbecause the heim will need some form of a safety washer or misalginment spacers on the drag link, but regardless I wouldn't drill the stock knuckle out to 3/4.

Finished replacing all the rubber fuel lines and evap lines on the YJ. Got stranded Saturday morning on the way home from work when one burst, so I replaced them all. Now I'm gonna fill the tank and go mudding with a lady
