Took it to Harrogate for the start of the Tour de France
I only saw one other Cherokee the whole day despite being parked in a field with what must have been 5000 other vehicles.

Sadly I no longer own a Jeep now...Jessie is sold and in Casper, Wyoming now with her new owner. It was sad watching her go but it was time for a new toy.

Plug Me
For the Peep's 684000 km factory scheduled maintenance program it was time to inspect and freshen the plugs. The RC9YC Champions had served well for over 110000 km, but only an XJ lasts forever. Decided to pull the plugs, center electrodes well worm and the prong had lost the edge. Gaps had opened +.008 to +.011 over the .035 original setting. The colour was a great tan, no fouling. Trying on a set of NGK this round G-Power NGK ZFR5FGP Platinum tip. Seems like a lot more letters than is necessary, you can google the ngk code chart for reference. Gapped them at .035", a little silicon lube in the boots and torqed to 20 ft lb for this gasket seat type of plug (18 to 24 recommended), or hand tighten till the ring gasket seats and 1/4 more turn will also do.
The rotor, cap and wires only have 80000km on them, going to run them once more around the block, perhaps change late in the summer/early fall. Don't like to change too many things at once, you don't know what effected any changes.
The Peep continues with a bit of stumble shudder right about 1600 rpm when lifting off the throttle is most common, done it for years. Severity comes and goes. It has been 50000 km since cleaning the IAC (have had a couple of idle variants over last couple weeks) and 100000 km since last cleaning the throttle body. Lucky for me Larry's (brother in law) tooth brush is still at the bench. I keep it there for him to use at every visit, he can pack quickly and travel light. I'll even lend him some flipped socks and underwear with a couple of good days left in them so he can visit more often. But I'm rambling. Larry's toothbrush and a can of contact cleaner does wonders on the IAC pintle and various ports of the throttle body.
Result is immediate starts, good solid idle (no variants), feels a little more pull on acceleration, throttle response is better, still a random shudder at times, still around 1600 rpm (tps or tc lock up is still on my suspect list).
Peep was getting a 22 mpg (17.6 US) cdn mpg average +/-1 mpg.
Will check it over next couple of weeks to see if any change of significance.
It definitely feels better. Time and miles will tell if the NGK fare better than the factory spec champions, should fare just as well.
Did fix one other thing, passenger door window, stuck for couple of years, wires broker off just as they enter the window motor. Spent $1 for a package of sewing needles. Selected two small slender needles. Soldered a wire to each (did burn hand on solder iron, doh!), then pushed the needles into the connections of the window motor, soldered the wires together, cleanded and lubed the whip mechanism, window works again. One burn, one minor cut, light abrassions. Passengers don't appreciate the toil and troubles I go thru for their comfort. It's a Jeep thing.

That would have been cool. I meant to watch the start, but couldn't remember why I was up so early so I went back to sleep. It wasn't till I woke up again around 9am that it dawned on me. so I will have to watch the replay this evening.

Attached my boostwerks **** linkage, tightened all the brake fittings so they don't leak. Bled the brakes. Topped off the coolant and cleaned/reattached the temp sensor for the gauge. I wasn't overheating which is good. Got the parking brake cables hooked up and adjusted. Found an air box laying around that actually had the right amount of spots to hook tubes into. Tightened a few things and drove it to the gas station. First time its moved in a year and a half.
I think I'm going to have to fine tune the alignment but it rides good sans ****ty tires. Needs a lot more done but at least its moving again.

Backed it down from its safe spot on blocks and ramps inside the garage. Storm surge came in the garage and made a mess, but the jeep stayed dry. Neighborhood is a stinking mess...

Changed the rear diff fluid today. Went with 80W-90 even though I don't tow, but do go off roading sometimes. Good deal at Wal-Mart....Gallon jug of SuperTech 80w-90 for about $14! Got plenty left over for when my brother does his, too!
Old fluid came out like frickin' water! Seemed like there was NO viscosity to speak of, but luckily I didn't see any metal particles in there. Looked like a bit of water or mud had gotten in at some point, but other than that, looked clean. Even ran a magnet through and nothing visible came up.
