I lifted the hood, looked at the upper radiator hose where it connects at the radiator, and for the life of me cannot figure out how the hose clamp was able to be tightend up, or how to remove it. It was screwed on, but it's totally blocked by this metal cover that spans the entire width of the engine compartment, and this plate appears to have a multitude of bolts that need to be removed. Has anyone out there been faced with this problem? makes no sense. It would be 100 times easier to just drill a small hole in this plate large enough to get a screwdriver thru, and proceed. Any help can be sent directly to my email at classicdad@***.net. Thank you. JT
Take the panel off. It is not difficult, grab a 10mm socket and go to town. When you get it off drill a hole for your screwdriver.

2x it's not that bad. The bolts are small. You'll thank yourself when you go to put the new one on

Unplugged the TPS for ****s 'n' giggles while trying to fix the Jeep.... And annoyingly doing so fixed half my problem. Now I'm really confused.

Are you sure cause it looks like it's leaking in that spot where it looks like the T-Case goes into the tranny idk if it's blowing over to that area or what?

1999 Jeep Cherokee engine misfire & stalling!
My son was driving to his school this morning and the engine shut off. I was in the passenger seat so I told him to pull to side of the road and stop. I put it in neutral and it started right up (thank God as it was raining pretty hard). After his drop off I took the Jeep to work. I noticed a slight misfire and then it felt like it was going to shut off again. I came home early and popped the hood with the engine running. I could see the engine shaking like a misfire and could hear an electrical noise. I looked at the top of the distributor and saw the coil wire had literally broken off and was about an inch from the break arcing like crazy. This is why you never buy imported plugs wires. The former owner had done a tune up and installed cheap ignition parts. The rotor button had also come apart last year and luckily the parts stayed on top of the plate. I had a new set of wires in the Jeep planning on a tune up day this weekend. Should have done it last week. Looks like this Saturday morning a tune up is planned.

Precisely why plugs, wires, cap and rotor should be replaced every 30,000 miles with quality parts.

Oh, didn't see that. Check fluid levels inside both the transmission and transfer case, as well as the top of the transfer case to see if there's any mess on top.
