Finally managed to get the transmission down, what a task that was. Now I have a new problem, even with a 3" lift and the jeep sitting on 4 maxed out jack stands I am still 8-10" shy of getting the old transmission out from under the Jeep
It is the cheap Power Fist transmission jack adapter I am using plus a slight hump in the driveway right under the middle of the Jeep. Looks like I am going to have to wrestle the transmission off the jack while it is still under and drag it out. Then build some blocks to set the jack stands on so I can slide the new transmission under the Jeep while on the overly tall adapter. Between rain, rounded bolts and this latest road block i have been working on it since Saturday and am starting to get fed up

My brother is going to stop by tonight and hopefully the two of us can get the transmission off the jack and I can try raise the Jeep higher tomorrow. I am thinking 4 12x12 blocks made from 2x4s screwed together with a plywood top for the jack stands and I should be good to get the new transmission in. I need to transfer some parts from the old one to the new on and steal a few things to hold on to as spares from the old one. I am hoping i don't mess anything up dragging it out on the driveway

They are on the axles, and a 5th one supporting the engine. The floor jack and transmission adapter are the problem. The jack is not even close to being low profile, and the adapter sits a good 6" above where the saddle would be. Add in the hump in the driveway that the Jeep is straddling and I didn't see at the time and it equals the height issue I have. Only problem is that I only have the one jack and it is stuck under the Jeep with the transmission and transfer case sitting one it

, but I am not suppose to do any repetitive motions against a load either and I insist on working on my own cars I have chronic lateral epicondylitis (AKA tennis elbow) and only have about 10% of the tendon left in my left elbow. Since it is so dead and there is so little of it left after two surgeries they are worried if I tear it again they wont be able to fix it
My brother couldn't make it tonight, but he is going to drop off his jack in the morning and I will just lift the jeep higher tomorrow

Picked up new Monroe Sensa-Trac load adjusting shocks for the rear and Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks for the front. Also picked up a new pigtail cord for my block/pan heaters. May get garage time Friday to put them in.

I was missing one flare in the rear lost it on the highway and a buddy of mine who stepped up to 33's trimmed and gave me his so I had to paint them satin black since they were green. I like body colored ones better but this look is growing on me I guess.

Made some 10.5" tall blocks to set my jack stands on so I can get the transmission out from under the XJ. Going to be a long slow haul to get it up that much further, but just getting the transmission out with by a huge step forward.

Got the transmission out from under it, the replacement transmission on the jack, old flexplate taken out and the new one installed, loctited, and torqued to spec. Tomorrow will be removing the broken flange stud, cleaning up a frame weld, swapping NSSs, and hopefully getting the new transmission bolted in. I want it back on the ground for tomorrow night while the kiddies are trick or treating.

replaced the brake adjuster on the right rear and cleaned up and painted my drums while they were off. All i had was tractor ford blue but they look ok haha
