Be careful putting that through insurance - most every rear-ender i've seen come though here with frame damage like that ended up being a total

I changed every gasket and had been driving the jeep for months now and today, I noticed a small oil spot. I am very cautious of the jeep and check the engine and performance of the car often. I looked under the jeep and what do you know. There is oil on the side of the block, on the transmission, oil filter. Went to pick up some brake cleaner and cleaned all the mess and drove around for around 10 mi. No oil leaks to be seen.??? This damn thing is tricky! Motor and undercarriage was cleaned so it's not remnants. Gonna have to run it a little more, but I have a suspicion that it is the rear main. Hope it is cause it'll be an easy fix. Please be easy! Leaky cars drive me nuts. Sorry for the rant. Haha.

Bought it. Seafoamed it. Changed the oil. Install new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Cleaned the throttle body. Replaced the air filter. Removed the plastic door trim and tape. Figured out all the tie rod ends are trash. Cleaned the interior.

Try to find out beforehand if you'll have the option to buy it back for scrap value... I did that with my pickup when it got hit by a semi, (damage was all cosmetic, just a lot of it.)

Got my NP242 out of the jeep to start rebuilding, the front output bearing is noisy so I suspect its the culprit for my highway squealing. Also found some metal dust in the oil, so that is confirmation that something inside is not real happy.

I'd be looking up ABOVE first, and VERIFYING the source of the oil leak YOURSELF.
Everybody, who doesn't own or have to pay for or perform your vehicle repairs, loves to poke their noggin UNDER the Jeep and come out bearing the false bad news that your RMS is leaking.
Many mechanics, friends, people on Jeep forums who can’t see your Jeep from where they’re at, and good old Uncle Bob seem to enjoy telling you it’s the rear main seal. Has a catastrophic ring to it, doesn’t it?
A simple leak at the back of the valve cover or other source could produce the same symptoms. You don’t need to be a mechanic to figure this out. If you have good eyesight and a dim flashlight, you’re good to go on your own. Don't jump on the RMS/oil pan gasket bandwagon right off the bat.
Almost any oil leak on your 4.0 is gonna drip from the RMS area for two simple reasons.
First off, the engine sits nose-up and any oil will run back to the RMS area. Secondly, the RMS area is also the lowest point on the engine. Simple physics and the old plumber's adage apply here. "$hit flows downhill".
Valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit, oil filter adapter seals and distributor gasket, in that order, have to be eliminated as possibilities first.
