What did you do to your Cherokee today?
::CF Administrator::
Motor has following:
Bored 30 Over
4.2 Crank
4.2 Connecting rods
Melling High Volume Oil Pump
.020 King main bearings
.010 King Connecting Rod Bearings
.030 Silvolite Pistons
.030 Hastings Piston Rings
King Cam Bearings
Elgin Performance Cam
Johnson Hydraulic Lifters
Engine Pro Timing Chain set
Fresh Head with new valves and valve springs
All new gaskets (No oil Leaks).
Venom 25 LB fuel injectors
Gibson Stainless steel ceramic coated header
I haven't put it on a dyno, so I can't give solid numbers, but it's probably around 280 HP, Tq I couldn't say. But I do know this, it is a noticible difference from stock, for sure.

Put a new exhaust manifold in today and changed the leaky valve cover gasket while I had it apart. Running into a little trouble now tho cause the rpms are running really high. 1200-2000. Little stumped as to why???

You can't even get a long block at that price. So I think I did pretty well. Want to take it somewhere and have it dyno'd eventually...also mine's a 4.6 for what it's worth. All bottom end. Top end is stock, thinking of doing a bored TB eventually. Overall, though I am happy. I know there's better options for more power out there like a 5.3 swap, but I had this deal fall in my lap, and jumped on it. SO glad I did.

.030 Hastings Piston Rings
King Cam Bearings
Elgin Performance Cam

This is his wife's jeep:
...and don't flame because of the color...it is a SOLID build. Guy really knows his stuff. Chopped from the a-pillars back, full tied in cage, LA suspension, locked and geared on 35's, remember it is a jeepacorn jeep...
His XJ is equally impressive, but wasn't there the day I went recently. The cool part is I got to talk shop with him, and he was impressed with my knowledge, and I, his...we chatted for a solid 2 hours when I picked up the motor.

Yes knife making, I use to make knives on the till my elbows started to give out from my real job. I gave it up to recover from the injury and the 2 surgeries I had on my left elbow. It has been a few years since I made a knife, but I think I have figured out a way to work around my restrictions and hopefully I can start turning out these again in under a month.
No, I don't lick fish.
Very cool! I love my Yakima rack. Don't love paying for it though. I replaced my factory crossbars with 50" round bars (56" cut down to 50). On that, I have a roof basket with a tire mount that I sometimes use. It's set to the drivers side, leaving enough room on the passenger side for my kayak. It maybe pushing the weight limit a bit, but I can carry my spare and an extra tank's worth of gas cans up there.
Oh, no doubt... I ALWAYS keep my eyes peeled for stuff like that, and I'm in the local p&p often, to say the least. The last setup I saw had the locks on all the mounts with no key in sight and I didn't have time that day to study how to get them off without destroying them. Next time, though...
