Hah got it. Guess rust is what I get for having no flares living in CO now.

Rear brakes freshened up. Shoes had glazed up and would groan/squeal and hardly stop when wet. Then remembered one side had no adjuster hardware because of a broken cable last time. So a quick trip back to AA for hardware and now its all new (except cylinders, in great condition).

Btw everytime I do drums, in my head its a piece of cake, then get into them and it all comes back how much a pita they are. LoL. I really gotta do disk brakes.

Replaced my waterpump, thermostat housing, thermostat, and serpentine belt today. The weephole was just beginning to leak when warm. I put in a flowkooler pump, hesco hi-flow housing, and a hi-flow thermostat. It's sitting for 24 hours to fully cure before I add fluids and start it up. I will have to report back on the effectiveness of the hi-flow components since I haven't driven it yet.

No. You do not have road salt, you do not get to complain about rust. Come back when your frame cracks and transmission falls out.

Take it back to the shop that rebuilt it for warranty repair? That's what I would do.

I have salt in the air. Does that count?

LoL I hope this one never gets that bad. My first XJ was a rust bucket but I under estimated the corrosiveness of magnesium chloride. I see Monstaliner in the near future.

I wash that stuff off repeatedly every winter! What a PITA. Keeps the deer off the roads, I suppose.
