Front Brakes
New rotors and pads for the '95. Old rotors were deeply grooved. One had a hole in it.

No, I don't lick fish.
Does that latch at the bumper or on the hatch? Is it from a bronco or bronco ii? I could probably find one of those easier than one from an XJ. Any details on how you mounted it to the body? Very very interested.

Friday night is Jeep night, 6 pack of bubblies and a basket of parts (this is what happens as you get older and your social calendar is less congested).
Checked the factory maintenance recommendation. 734000 km, yep right on schedule for oil and filter, did the air filter too; due diligence.
Borrowed that brother in law toothbrush (again) and scrubbed the throttle body and pintle of the idle air control. I use a little brake clean solvent for the carbon removal.
(The carbon comes from the positive crank ventilation. This renix is like me, more blow by the older we get.
Idle has been erratic and unreliable, ta da, a new throttle position sensor! Test driven today. It didn't cure all the relative ailments of this renix but sure did fix the idle and seems to have improved the lock up (and unlock timing) of the AW4.
(Had exchanged the IAC couple weeks ago, hadn't resolved the idle, so I did the TPS this go round.) (Cruiser's very excellent tips section has the details of the TPS tuning, and procedure can also be found in video of bleepin jeep)
Dog was no help at all, she knocked over and drank half my 1st bubbly, then slept in the back of the XJ till the work was done, then ran around the back yard barking at rabbits at 1:00am, all the things I used to do.
Remember one should always return borrowed tools. I'll return that borrowed tooth brush to the in law. He thinks it's a Jeep thing. I think dogs laughing, lololololol

What did you do to your cherokee today?
Spent my morning at the boneyard. Pulled a swaybar, both taillights, an antenna, a headliner, and all but 2 pieces of interior trim. May have to make a trip to a few other yards tomorrow to get some decent carpet and those remaining trim pieces. Got my swaybar installed, but the ends seem awfully close to the springs. Hopefully things square up better when I get the Zone links next week.

Finished the ball-joints, u-joints and wheel hubs/bearings that were started last night then aligned it. What a difference!
While it was on the lift I figured I'd pull the inspection cover and check the flexplate. Still looks new so I guess I'll find something else to empty every pocket into...maybe some Brown Dog motor mounts.

Got a lot of damn **** done today.
Source of sudden death wobbles:
Both of my front axle u joints are bad. And the interesting part is that the one that doesn't make any noise is actually worse than the one that clicks all the time. Moreover, my upper control arm bushing under the driver side is completely shot. I have all new parts coming to fix that, and I'll give it a nice alignment. Fortunately, the ball joints are golden. No need to replace those or the hub bearings, because everything is in great shape.
Fixing all my fluid leaks:
I found that I have bad oil leaks from the engine. I think I lost a good quart of oil during my last oil change, unless that's just how much accidentally missed the oil catch bucket. So I replaced the valve cover gasket today. I have new grommets and elbows coming in the mail, and I ordered a set of oil filter o-rings for the oil filter adapter. Then, a sudden transmission oil leak is bugging me. Gonna patch that up with a new gasket and some fresh Dex Merc fluid (not ATF+4).
Fixing stupid driveline vibrations:
Every time I adjust the height of my Jeep, there is a consequence of changing pinion angle to a more extreme drop that should be fixed. In the rear, I recently took out a shackle relocation kit, which was adding too much lift. I need to either find a shorter shackle, or a better leaf spring that gives me the ride height I want and the ride quality I want. In the front, my driveshaft is not happy since I put the coil spring spacers in. I have to adjust my pinion angle to a more pleasant angle to get rid of this vibrating key-in-the-ignition sound once and for all.
Overall, I'd say I found out more wrong with my Jeep today than I have in a long time. And I'm more prepared than ever to fix them all. I'd be happy to make my Jeep work the way I intend it to with a lot of sweat and hard work.

Replaced a broken fog light. The new one came with a missing weld nut on the mounting bracket, so I reused the old bracket.

After all the fuss and troubleshooting of the last couple of days, I walked out to it this morning and twisted the key and it started. Just like nothing ever happened.
I quit.
