It must be radiator day, because that's what I did too... Installed ALL THE THINGS!!!
I'll fill it and fire it in the morning and count the leaks...
Seriously though... I've worked on a few neglected cooling systems over the years, but this one was far and away the absolute worst I've encountered. Here are the old parts...
The rust buildup was everywhere except on the metal surfaces. The insides of the old hoses were absolutely encrusted with it. Inspecting the inside of the water jacket and in the head behind the thermostat I was quite impressed at how clean the metal now is, and the backside of the old pump is now spotless, though you can easily see the corrosion damage to the impeller. Prestone cooling system flush (and three flushes) for the win. All the flushing dislodged the gunk buildup in the radiator that I guess was plugging all the holes, because it had started to leak quite badly.
Happy Independence Day everyone, hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th!
Basslicks, I'm glad one of us is smart. I bought the same gasket kit about a week ago, but haven't installed it yet, and tracing the outline is a great idea for the bolt reinstallation.
I also have the Mopar rms and Fel-Pro oil pan gasket laying around here waiting to be installed and I'll be using that idea there also!
Picked up a 97 4 dr country last Thur. Last 3 days replaced 4 speakers, tuneup, recharged a/c, and found out the sun roof was glued shut, and leaks like crazy around the seal. Sadly it's now time to sell the 94 2dr sport.
Went to pull the passenger side radius arm (UCA bracket tore off) and found out the nut had stripped and was stuck on the shank. Pulled out the cuttoff wheel and had to cut the nut into three rings that I had to pry off. Gotta drop the TC skid and the cross member To do the trans and TC drain , so that will have to wait till I have a little more time. Got the white 98 washed. Few more things to do and she's going up on the market.
Well the factory Wiring for the power windows/locks has a factory ground. I stripped the wire and added another fatter gauge wire ground and my windows work better for some reason.
