Tore the L/R drum apart to swap to a longer e-brake cable. I didn't get to finish it last night. I'd like to finish it today, but have other projects on the plate. I've decided to say screw it and get what I can done working 58 hour weeks instead of putting everything off.

Seafoamed, Changed oil, topped up fluids, cleaned engine bay a bit. This is my new to me '99 XJ. The original owner didnt drive it much, and did just basic maintenance. Hasn't gone many miles, but the dirt still added up. Tomorrow is axle seals, axle u-joints and diff fluids. Not as much seafoam smoke as I thought I'd have Before pic Showing the difference under the hood. This may help disperse some of that heat! Engine cleaned(ish) and Dry.

Change the oil, Rotela and Napa. Then I decided to jump right into changing the hubs, it went much smoother than I expected. Replaced both front hubs and changed the oil in about 4 hours. The hub bolts on the DS were a pain, but the axle nuts and ps hub bolts were not a problem.
Now to figure out the cause of the creaking as the wheel comes to full lock ad the annoying pop/click I feel in the steering wheel. Ball joints and tie rod ends are good. I can not detect any play in the track bar at either end when someone is turning the wheel. That is leaving me to suspect either a broken steering box spacer or cracked frame near the steering box. I ran out of light before I could inspect the frame properly so that will have to wait till my next set of days off.
I did notice that the passenger side axle u joint is really stiff and needs to be replaced, could that be what I am hearing even though to my ear it is coming from the drivers side

Hurt my hand this morning at work so I'm unable to do much, but still managed to celebrate the XJ's return to duty with some victory decals...
Replaced my forum decal...
And a little belated patriotism, ordered before July 4 but that was when trouble started...

Sprayed it on, half the engine at a time so that it doesnt sit too long. Apparently it can harm some plastics after a while. Then I used a soft brush, and just gave the really nasty areas a scrub.
After about 5 minutes of sitting, I sprayed it off with a low pressure nozzle. I dont like High pressure water and engines.
You did a lot more work than me with wet wipes!!! Looks good though,

Tore the passenger side drum apart after doing the drive side.
Holy *****! Soaked in fluid, missing pads. Couldn't get the flare nut off the line, so I have to replace the line tomorrow night, and bleed from the axle back. Glad I got out of the mountains safely on this thing.
