you should just have to switch out the thermal flasher module for an electronic one. Takes care of all the signal bulbs when switching to LED

Replaced upper/lower radiator hoses w/ Gates, fresh coolant and OEM cap & t-stat. Guess the oil filter adapter o-rings are going to wait 'til tomorrow...

I'm not sure on the bulb type for later models... but yes, they're best behind clear lenses.

I used 5 ohm load resistors because that's the way we wired the service trucks where I used to work, but you should also be able to use an electronic flasher, as Dukie said. I just had some "leftover" resistors on hand. However if you've already used resistors on the back, I'd go the same route all the way around just for uniformity's sake.

Oh ok... yeah those look good, I'll keep those in mind. I see they make 'em for the tails too.

A mechanical flasher? You mean your hand on the turn signal lever?

96 and older uses a bayonet base 1157 bulb, with one on each side. 97-01 uses a wedge base 3157 bulb, and uses two on each side.

My nephew got an early-70s bus from his church that he was going to convert to a flatbed. It had a mechanical flasher. It had a motor-driven switch that you could hear when the turn signal was turned on.

I figured they had switched over in '97 just wasn't sure. "Change ALL the things!"

Motor-driven signal flasher... Learn something new every day.

I am interested in wiring a switch like this for my aux fan. Can you diagram what you did?

Thanks.

I made some brackets to mount my trans cooler yesterday. Need to go back to the hardware store today. I'll probably paint everything today and maybe tap into the lines.

Thank God for old trucks with cold AC!

Bonus points for doing it the proper way.
