I woke up last week to no turn signals, no wipers, no radio.
Sniffing around on here I got wind that the ignition switch was probably the culprit.
Bought one for $16.11 w/ shipping on RockAuto. (Made sure to get the one for tilt steering)
Step 1: Lower dash removal ..no problem
Step 2: Drop steering column... ughhh..sounds ****ty...turns out..not a real problem.
Step ANYTHING PAST HERE: reaching my hands up on top of the steering column to dick around with the tiny little 8mm nuts/bolts on that switch is a nightmare.
Oh, and nowhere did I find mentioned: "The Ignition Switch is attached to the steering column using the same bolts that attach a different switch (I dont know what switch it is, but its just to the left of the ignition switch and that uses the same bolts to bolt up to the column, which means...reinstallation is lining up not just the ignition switch to the bolt holes on the steering column, its also lining up that switch, and also holding the flashlight. haha I looked so stupid and frustrated. My girlfriend was so close to leaving me with the profanity.
"Ah its not too bad" ...yea I guess..but my hands are big and I was getting so frustrated trying to secure the new one on there.
Stupid step: Make sure the Accessory is turned to on the steering colum, and make sure the switch is in "accessory" also.
So this just became guess work because between pulling on the actuator to line up the bolt/nut holes on the ignition switch and holding my flashlight and trying to line the two sensors and the column bolt holes up I have no idea whats going on at the ignition (where the key goes in)
Finally get it into place..
go to test start..nothing..well..it seems as if the actuator pin is incorrectly installed in the wrong slot (not accessory) because all the symptoms are fixed but the final turn of the key doesn't crank the engine.
SOOOO...
Turn signals fixed, radio on, wipers back.
I'm kinda happy..because hey...CHEROKEEFORUM was rite! it was the ignition switch.
But now this ***** has to start.
After taking it all off...swearing some more..and then it not working again..then putting the actuator into a different position..and trying again..NO..NO..NO still wont start.
So then I thought.
"OK Idiot, why wont this work?"
Then I realized the stupidest part about what I was trying to do.
Since I took the ignition switch off so many times and it was so hard to get my hands up there I stopped tightening the two bolts that hold it to the steering column..I just tightened them enough to hold it on.
Well since that actuator "pulls" on the ignition switch quite hard to finally "START" the car ...instead of getting the friction it needed from being cranked down and tightened. it was just sliding.
"WELL GOOD JOB IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!" How is it supposed to start if it just slides up and down the column?
Go back under there..tighten it on. BOOM! Jeep starts, turn signals work, wipers work, radio works...
All my anger and frustration immediately turn to pride and "F**K YAAAA"
10/10 would do it again. Love this Jeep. But only once the jobs done.

I managed to rip all the rubber off one windscreen wiper because I didn't realize it was frozen to the glass. Yay me!

Started to install my lift today. Only worked on it for about 3 hours. Took a lot of breaks because it was 27 degrees and had 15 mph constant winds.
The leaf spring center pins basically welded themselves to the spring perches. I had to break the center pin and separate the leafs in order to get the axle to drop down. Now I need to cut the rest of the bolt off and drill out the heads.

Also rotated the tires now there is no shaking between 47 and 52 mph...guess the VC didn't like the slightly more worn tires in the front...
