Cured the death wobble
Replaced the inner and outer tie rod ends, new track bar, new steering damper and then took it to the shop to have it aligned. Finally cured the death wobble. Now I remember why I was putting this off. It's a lot of knuckle busting work!

Had a little trouble with the connector for the coolant temp sensor this morning so, after fiddling with it and getting it to make contact, I drove to work with my scan-tool hooked up so I could monitor the sensor readings. Fairly interesting. With the 195 stat in, the coolant temp stayed in the 197-201 range. Also, the vehicle speed reading from the OBD2 system is dead on with my GPS, but the speedometer reads about 2 MPH high. I think that is just an offset error in the speedo assembly.
I did find out while I was fiddling with the temp sensor, that the temperature reading is VERY important to how the Jeep runs. When it was reading improperly low, the Jeep was very surgy and the idle was all over the place. Once I got the connections made properly, it smoothed right out.

what i did today
i'm waiting for my KOR track bar conversion to show up. i ordered it last week, but chose the cheapest shipping option. while waiting, i saw a link on KOR's website to rewire the front side markers to blink in my 88. had to pull apart dash to plug heater controls back in, also wiring an amp/sub for the stereo. spliced into the cigar lighter for the switched 12v, ran wire with a 7.5a in-line fuse down under center console along with the rca cables from stereo. it's my day off, and i'm still waiting for t-bar conv., but @ least i'm having fun listening to killer tunes thanks to the 8" powered bazooka tube i scored from a friend, & now my side markers blink! t-bar should be here tomorrow. i hit all of the stock t-bar bolts w/ blaster a couple of days ago, probably do another round today (gives me an excuse to be outside. i live in a college town, & school's back in session. it's really tough watching all the girls walk by!
