Seems like I missed the window on getting a good deal on my front coil springs. It's like the price almost doubled from what I remembered! Or at least what I thought I remembered! Lol back to the drawing board!

Going toward the front of the Jeep, instead of having a small black strip on the rear corners

Picked it up from the body shop due to being rear ended and having a small but long scuff across the rear bumper.

The shop did the paint job right, but when I got to work I noticed the end cap is loosely attached.

Called them, and they said "oh yeah we should have told you..". They said that where it bolts close to the tire was too rusted and now broken.

The end cap was very secure before I brought it to them. No problems at all.

Super shady of them to not mention that until I find out. Like what if the thing comes flying off now down the freeway?
It's now in worse shape than when it went in, and I would take a scuffed bumper over a broken loose end cap any day.

Hmmm... Has anyone bought used parts, i.e. springs off of Amazon?

Its in worse shape because of a loose end cap? Both mine are loose haha Does the bolt look rusted? May have broken on impact and just seemed like it was held on good.

Drove it to the junkyard, pulled some Wj akebono calipers and knuckles then drove it home.

The bolt was rusted, and they snapped it during removal when they were replacing the bumper. They should have at least drilled it and installed a new nut and bolt, but they were being lazy. I'd be complaining.

Do they say acebono right on them? How do you identify them?

They're a different design. I think the switch was in '02, but I only read up on the topic briefly

One of the calipers said akebono on it, the other didn't idk if that's normal (other than that they were identicle). The teeves (less desirable) ones have a big wire going around the pads and the caliper is much more angular. I think they were from '03 and up but alot of older models got them as a factory recall so don't count those out. Not the best picture I'll get some better ones

I assume you are doing the WJ brake upgrade? I really need to do that since I have 35s

It gets better!

They didn't put washers back on it.

I checked it out and I'll be able to get the stud or whatever held the end cap in place back on. It's not great, but it's not f-ed.

Yep, doing the upgrade in preparation for 33s, might be a little over kill but can't hurt . A better picture of the caliper that says akebono on it
