So I ended up going to the store and picking up 5 quarts of 20w-50 motor oil for my jeep, and hopefully I will have the primer on it soon. Just need to get through the weekend lol

 

Basslicks - I've seen the Northern Tool type and they are a bit narrow for most Jeep tires. Princess Auto has those too. The Cabela's design looks good but it doesn't have a platform (only 2 steps). The 12"x16" platform on this one is surprisingly sturdy.

I had planned on making something similar out of an old, cheap hand truck that I have. It would have given me the "loop" for the platform. I was going to cut it down and weld a piece of expanded metal on to it as well as some simple u-brackets on the underside for the pivot points. The ladder/stand would be pretty straightforward to fabricate. I still may do that but I'll be happy to try this one out in the meantime.

 

And broke the clockspring too!

 

Ah... well.... back to the drawing board lol. I like the design of the simple step that hangs on the tire though. Seems like it would take up much less room than the others. Might just have to fab something up that will work.

pulled the t case and installed the tcase adapter in put seal that i neglected to install the first time around.

i also decided to use the clocked up position since the front yoke was to close to the crossmember

 

Found out that weird pop noise I was getting is actually the track bar bracket bolts coming loose. Hmm. What to do.

 

Red loctite, tighten, then weld the bracket on. Works like a charm.

 

got the case re installed went for a spin and i now seem to have 2nd gear maybey there was a blockage somewhere than got cleared? idk what its deal it

now the motors randomly misfiring and dying, seems like its the bank 2 coils are the culprits but im not getting any CEL's so idk what the deal is there either

 

Weld the crappy factory bracket to the frame? Uh, that doesn't sound like a good idea. Especially if I want to go double shear down the road.

 

In that case, get a double shear now...sorry, I assumed you were already running one!

 

No but I am running the beefy JKS track bar. Shame it cant be converted to double shear very easily.

 

I built my first ever successful wood-working project. I've never been able to get stuff square, but this time I ended up within a 1/32" from being perfect, and I can take care of that with the sander.


I removed the rear seat with the intent of a two-section cargo box for tools, gloves, toilet paper, first aid kit, tow straps, tree strap, clevis, ****** block, etc.


I went with 1/2" plywood figuring I would end up scrapping it once I messed it all up, and if I didn't, I could disassemble it later and use the pieces as templates with some better wood.


Inside dimensions are about 16.25" f to r, 11" deep, and 22" and 19" wide (appears the driveshaft tunnel is not in the exact center ).


The only thing left is to figure out how to hinge the two lids so that you can open them standing in the rear door, hinged in the middle, but not have a huge gap between lids...any ideas/thoughts?
