Started up my Cherokee and drove it around the backyard, also tried to find axle tags on both front and rear and had no luck with it.

is there any other way to check for the ratios? And there is a front tag but it is completely blank, it has no markings at all.

Pull the covers and look for the stamping on the ring gear, or count the teeth on the ring and pinion and divide.

The RC ones dont fit a shackle inside of them properly. You'll have to trim the shackle narrower or grind down the boxes to make them wider.

i checked again on the back axle and on a smaller tag I saw (or rather felt) the numbers 331. Could it have 3.31s?

Really? I didn't know this was a big issue. Is that with any type of shackle or only the stock ones? I don't have stock shackles

Good possibility. D35 rear came in a 3.31 ratio I do believe. Only sure way to know without the tag on the cover is by looking at the gears.

Ive only seen it with after market shackles. Mainly because stock shackles don't work very well with the relo brackets.

It would be very odd as 3.55:1 is the standard gearing for 4.0L w/ AW4

You can jack up a tire and compare the number of driveshaft rotations to the number of tire rotations. That ratio is your gear ratio.

so if I mark a spot on the tire with junkyard paint and do it for 1 driveshaft turn per whatever number of tire turns that's what I would do?
