So thinking this weekend will be spent installing the cruise control. Since I have 3 I decided to take the worst looking one apart. So to anybody that might care. In the first shot where the connector is that cover comes off. See the corrosion. Wonder if that matters. One I want to use is clean. Those two rectangle squares that are on either side of the second shot have a open cell foam in there. Deteriorated to dust when touched. Third shot where the cable is hooked on with a R cotter pin and apparently if need be can be replaced fairly easy. See the fourth shot.

First link is a VIN lookup for recall records. Second link is N45 recall for ZJ.

Absolutely humongous difference from the Cobra 19 that I was running before. The noise blanker is heaven! The sound quality is also very substantial as well.
I'm probably going to end up having to move it around on that overhead mount a little though due to another mod I did...

Did my T4 oil change along with the longer filter. Did my rear disc brake conversion with braided steel lines from All Things Jeep. The kit had the rear hose from body to axle, and from the caliper to the new steel lines from SSTUBES for the 97 CG. E brake cables are on the way, they will be here mid week. Used my motive pressure bleeder and after a few leaks found and fixed have a good pedal. Next up a skid plate for my plastic gas tank.

YEAH BABY!!!! Got the Cruise Control in. Air bag did not go off, air bag light is not on, and the horn works. Went for a spin around the neighborhood. All the features appear to work. Will know better when I get her on the highway. I literally live 1 minute from the cop shop. Got her up to speed to check the cruise but did not want to push my luck.

Well, the D35 makes me nervous, so I almost bought a C8.25 out of a '94 I'd found on CL, but I knew the 27 spline was gonna bug me and be one more thing I'd want to upgrade. So I waited. And I'm glad I did!
Picked this up today for $100, out of a running going XJ. It's from a '97, so 29 spline, and it's got the LSD. Win.

Unless somebody just drops a conversion kit in my lap, lol, probably not. It's gonna get gears, and an overall rebuild, including the brakes.
But for me, unless you're turning 35s rear discs=money that could have been spent better elsewhere. Forwards or backwards I can lock up all four tires with ease. Stopping power, done.
I converted my 5.0 Mustang to rear discs because I drive that car very very fast.

The rear conversion is really simple, doesn't cost much, and if you gonna be doing it all, do it right now.
I am not bashing on drum brakes at all. Very solid platform. However, if you're gonna be in there, just do it. You'll kick yourself later. Better stopping power, ease of maintenance, and low cost to me = win/win. Just my opinion.
