I got the engine all tore down. Someone has been through the engine before. I got +.001 bearings on the mains and aftermarket ones on the rods. The lifters looked pretty new as well. The bores measured stock with the exception of being pretty far out of round. So going to turn the crank .010/.010 and bore the block .030 over. Fun.

Had to side line service on the XJ.
Moved the WJ, brake seemed soft, fluid in reservoir less than full.
The WJ had a rotted brake line to the rear.
-16C and windy. Not even the dog would help. 3 cold hours.
Replaced 3/16 steel line tip to tail.
Got lucky and didn't break any fittings or bleaders (propane heat and wax on threads, then work the wrenchs)
New line in, fully bled, no leaks, hard brakes, wife is mobile. Oh no, now she wants to go shopping!

What did you do to your Cherokee today?-photo555.jpgWhat did you do to your Cherokee today?-photo350.jpg cleaned this mess. And now it idles at 750 and not 250, and overall better performance, but still stumbles at 2000ish rpms, but it's cold and a friend wanted to get lunch so more digging will have to wait.

Forgot to mention I cleaned the iac. Not sure if I'm done for the night or not, but I refreshed some grounds, replaced the bolts for the bumper on the manche ( they were pretty rusted and one broke when taking it out. It's a bumper pull so I figured new bolts would be a good idea) welded up an exhaust hanger that had broken free. Slowly getting through cruisers tips and doing other little things as i can to prevent bigger issues down the road. Here's a picture of the main ground wire What did you do to your Cherokee today?-photo758.jpgWhat did you do to your Cherokee today?-photo454.jpg I really need to replace this thing ASAP.

Good idea man.

Sheeeesh! That's typical of that ground wire from every renix that I've seen. The insulation on those thing suck.

Not a bad idea... a little preventative maintenance goes a long ways... that reminds me I'll have to check mine soon to confirm condition.

My YJ is getting to that point. I need to get a set of cables from XJwonders now that my Jeep is actually on the road again. It wasn't a priority when it was broken down lol

Haha... yeah exactly! Whatever material they used to for the insulation was NOT oil resistant. So when these things leak oil (EVERYWHERE), the insulation breaks apart and falls off... as pictured

Just a poor design that was later sorta improved.

Bare ground wires are backup redundancy. More grounding points the better. lol

Looks like my Christmas present to me won't get installed this year with this cold weather. So bumper and winch will have to wait till the New Year. Not trying it in 20 something temps outside.
