Got everything cleaned and painted, ready to put back together. Ordered a new "C" clamp , OTC, to put my ball joints back in. My other one bent removing them. Found that one of my new front rotors was damaged, so I'm also waiting for that !

What are you doing for new brake lines? Pre-bent or did you bend them yourself?
Took the cover off of my CHRYCO 8.25 to check gearing, and put some fresh gear oil in it (I HATE THE SMELL OF GEAR OIL!). After a clean of the cover , I wire brushed it, and painted it with Hammered Black Paint.
Got my (new to me) NP231 up in the hole. WHAT A PITA!!!!
Even with a tranny jack it was not fun, but it is up there. Started installing the NOVAK cable shifter for the TC.
Lol... Many years ago a friend of mine coined it as smelling like dead rotten dinosaur juice.

I wanted to roll my own, but ended up ordering a set of prebent SSTL, from Inline Tube. The lines were very near exact, to the old ones ! Can't complain about the fit at all !!! The service was somewhat lacking. They messed up my order. I ended up getting like, four different pkgs ! But they did take care of me properly !!! I just installed the long line to the rear today, and the ZJ proportioning valve guts. I did buy a Blackhawk Dbl Flaring tool. Can't really run the last two lines to the rear calipers yet. The set that I ordered, has the OEM lines that run straight into the drum backing plate. I bought straight and 30 degree banjo fittings for the connection to the calipers. I'm either going to bend the lines 90 degrees, or cut them off some and redo the the ends. Whichever route works best for the short 8" lines, which is what the 97 ZJ had.
Those look like In-Line Tube stainless brake lines?????

Bingo, loving these so far. I talked to thier tech dept. Asked if the fittings were also SSTL ? They told me that they stopped using SSTL fittings, as they were seizing up with the regular metal parts. I guess a chemical reaction to dissimilar metals ? Sounds logical,,,
The only part that is a PIA is removing the tranny oil pan around the exhaust pipe. It crosses from the left to the right just in front of the pan almost over the front bolts on the oil pan.. You have to work it around a bit to remove and re install it. The actual install of the solenoids is a quick and simple plug and play.

Got home at 8 PM. Ate dinner, changed the oil, spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor, then rain-x'd the windshield and installed some windshield wipers. Hilariously the wipers are knock-off Garson D.A.D branded, which is a high end luxury VIP car accessories retailer (if you know about that VIP life, lol). $2 shipped from China, the wipers are actually pretty good, was testing one on my passenger side and it has held up perfectly for at least 1 month.
Second dinner, and crashing in 3...2...1...

Good luck with the wiper blades ! Hope you have better service life than my crapped out front end service tool kit and 4-in-1 ball joint kit !!! I did get all but $4 dollars refunded, plus got to keep the tools !!! I bought a U.S.A. made OTC "C" clamp for $35 to go with the ball joint kit !!! No more China junk, I knew better ! Now I want some of those Gear Wrench Tools !!! Hope they're not made in China too !!!
Yesterday, raised the trans with custom mount from XJWonders, plated over the stock gas tank skid for more beef, and tossed the 35s on the jeep and put it on it's own weight. Busy and fun day.
Finally got the correct RH bucket, so i got the front end put together. Still needs some tweaking/fitting, but this'll do till i start prepping it for paint.
Was finally able to drive it on the street today(without watching for cops, lol). I've always loved driving XJs. But damn, there's just something about driving one of these little mini-tanks with a stick shift.
My "new" XJ. 1993 XJ Country 2WD. It needs a little work but will be my new daily. Got it home yesterday afternoon and started to clean it out and up this morning.
Adjusted the steering linkage, then just did some cleanup work. A whole LOT of vacuuming and scrubbing, then some part store seat covers for the front. They'll do for now.

Then i peeled off those goofy orange pinstripes, and finally cleaned the blue crap off the new tires.
Once i tackle the window tint and the body/paint... I think she's gonna end up being a pretty decent little rig.

Got the new alternator installed, found where the two grounds I missed were supposed to go :facepalm: and now the AC kicks on a few seconds at a time! Now I can fill'er up all the way and not dread driving anywhere during the day.
