I am also going through this. I would get some degreaser and go to town on any oily areas so that you can find out where it's coming from. Gravity and wind resistance will push leaking oil all over the pan and even towards your tranny bell housing so it may not be a RMS issue. If you can update your signature with your vehicle's specs, the rest of the forum will be able to help you more easily.
What kind of oil pan gasket did you use?
I just installed a new oil pan with a fel-pro gasket, but it did not come with the retaining pins so the gasket did not properly seat. It ended up leaking just like the last one. (looked like rms)
Also did you use RTV on the front and back of the gasket? It needs RTV to properly seal on the corners.
Another thing to look for are dents in the oil pan. Someone tried to jack up my jeep by the oil pan and bent it in. It deformed the pan at the back edge. That's why it started leaking in the first place.
There is also a good chance that your leak is coming from the oil filter assembly. Check out under the oil filter, and the adapter. The adapter has two o rings to seal it, then you also have the oil filter seal. It's a likely spot for an oil leak.
Lastly if the bolts were not torqued to spec it's possible that is causing the issue. The large flat surfaces need to be properly seated and torqued accordingly.
Last Night:
Replaced all rear lights.
Traced my blinker issue to the ignition switch. Ripped it out & rebuilt it. Reinstalled it. Blinkers, back up lights, and wipers fixed in one shot.
Installed a chrome turn signal lever.
My brakes are royally messed up. I snapped a brake bleeder on the rear drum, then broke the hard line trying to use it to bleed the air.
Got oil EVERYWHERE.
Ordered a new oil pan gasket, ss brake line, ss brake line guard, ss line fittings, flaring tool, tube bender, and air powered brake bleeder.
Then I ordered all new rear brakes (except drums & backing plates), a used 96 xj brake booster, and a new dorman master cylinder.
As previously stated my oil pan was leaking. Took it off again (ugh)
Today:
Went to work to pay for all this crap.
Failed at finding a chrysler 8.25 or dana 44 axle, but at least got these bad boys off of a parts jeep. I am too exhausted to clean them up right now.
Here are some satisfying pics from last week.

Today I removed the stock roof "rack" that has never been used, and probably will never be called for. Hit it with a wire brush, primed, and painted right over the bolts that I just put back in and tightened down. We'll see if it leaks I guess.
Also had some more fun times with RTV Black and some spray sealant. I am bound and determined to stop that bloody annoying, teeny weeny oil leak. It's curing so I won't know anything until tomorrow night I guess. I'm hoping that I don't need to go in and tap another bolt hole as this one is nearly impossible to access straight on without removing most of the suspension, at least that's what it looks like to me.
Also, the CEL is back on, throwing code P1391. The CPS again. I read a thread about the Transmission Control Module causing this error code, so I'm thinking I may just get a used TCM and replace it since it's right by the gas pedal and pretty easy to get at. Swapping out CPS for a known working one produces no difference and the CEL goes on in about 10 miles of regular driving. Note that I haven't tried an Eichlin one from NAPA yet. Not excited about spending a hundo on that.

Finished the notched oil sump pan. Ran out of gas about 3/4 of the way done. So just cranked up the heat and kept on going. It ain't got to be pretty, it's just got to hold oil.

Hello,
I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited. There is a metallic like sounding screech when my rpm hits 1500. I am assuming it has something to do with the transmission. Does anyone have the same problem/solution?
thanks!

But first thing I'd check would be your serpentine belt tension.

Done a few things last couple weeks: replaced the left front door check strap, and while the panel was off I adjusted the window to cure a binding issue I've been struggling with, and also replaced the master switch with one I had touched up all the solder joints on to cure the random inop window and door lock issues. Removed the instrument cluster and packed the connectors with dielectric grease to stop the intermittent gauge drop out and airbag light deployment. Removed the rear wiper switch to see if I could replace just the bulb, which is possible if there was one available, but since there isn't, I'll just put a new switch in. Replaced the license lamp bulb and cleaned up the steering wheel switches which cured my inop cruise control issue. Wish I could find a source on the driver's power seat adjuster assembly or individual motors, would like to take care of those next . . .

Learned how light the back end of a Jeep is with mud tires in snow/ice conditions lol.
Gotta get that front ds and linkage for the transfer case finished.

Installed my Front and Rear main seals on the engine. I almost forgot how fun old school rope seals were. Lucky for me, I have the old school special tools.

Took my sweet new to me $500 XJ for a 10 mile spin to see what issues it has. And there are many... But heck! It freakin moves and is extremely obnoxious!
