Opened up the diff cover on the axle I got the other day and it turned out to be a limited slip and not an open carrier like the guy had said it was supposed to be.
Doesn't make much difference to me since none of my vehicles are 4.10 or will be 4.10 and there's play in the pinion which means new bearings. I've been thinking about 4.56, disc brakes, ox Locker, and 33 splines. Not sure yet, I may end up just selling it.
Does anyone have any experience with these coil over shocks? I was hoping to gain another inch or so and I don't think I would mind the rake. Of course, if I was feeling really adventurous I would just replace the leaf springs, or just use some blocks or shackles, but I'm concerned that blocks and/or shackles will just nuke the 21 year old OEM springs.
I don't tow anything and the only weight in my rear end is my sound system, which consists mostly of my sub box and amps. Wondering if this would be detrimental to the handling?

I don't think I'd really want to put anymore stress on the shock tabs that weren't really designed to support weight personally. I would put new leaf springs in it instead of slapping a bandaid on it. I guess it depends on what the vehicle is worth to you and if you care to keep it around and what not.
I got a new trim panel for back right where the cubby hole is since mine has a few holes in it. I also got the weather stripping from the trunk and horns.

Too bad ya don't live closer, I'd tell ya to just come by here and pick either MJ axle you want. I got two just laying here. One LSD 4.10 D35 and one open 3.55 D35.
It's my DD Satirical, so I would ideally like to keep her on the road for as long as humanly possible. Preventative maintenance on my rig is pretty much my life at this point but I don't mind as it keeps me out of the bars.
In the end, I guess you're right and I should just bite the bullet and install new leafs. I'm just not looking forward to wrestling with those carriage bolts that have been on this vehicle since 1998.

Trading a d44 for a d35 sounds like a backwards direction to go. Heck going from the 8.25 that's in the Comanche to a d35 sounds backwards.

I had those on mine when I sold it. I was using them with new springs, and didn't notice any change in ride height. The springs on them aren't very stiff. I had them on mine because it was my tow/haul vehicle.
Installed the new 35's tires the 33's just didn't look good after the flat fender flare install so jumped up to 35's so now is all set for awhile! Took it out and played a little then drove it to town and back cant wait till spring!
Drained the transmission fluid. Cleaned the Idle Air Control valve after an unsuccessful attempt to replace it. The JC Whitney IAC (if I remember correctly) had a thicker o-ring, longer "projection," and different threads on the screws. Otherwise it looked the same. May very well have been a Napa part, I can't remember where I bought it....will try to return it, sigh.
Replaced rotor and distributor cap. Waiting for Napa to order spark plug gappers so I can change the plugs.
Sprayed rear sway bar and links on my '98 with PB Blaster in anticipation of a swap. (Love that stuff ha.)
And my buddy stopped by and was kind enough to smear some anti-corrosion gunk on my battery terminals.
