Went outside and saw the XJ had a flat tire, left rear. I had driven the Jeep around the previous day so figured it must have picked up a nail. Since I have to work outside, during the winter months I try to minimize the work done on vehicles and was going to take the tire to a local shop for repair.

Decided though to spray some soapy water to find the leak first - sprayed the tread, sidewalls, and bead and found nothing. Sprayed the valve stem and Eureka! Turns out the schrader valve was leaking. Thought I had new spares around but couldn't find 'em so pulled a used valve from an old dry-rotted tire that was laying around. After swapping the valve and pumping the XJ's tire back up it's fine. (Note to self to buy some schrader valves and put them where I can find them!)

Changed the oil, luckily I had enough... I thought I had a new 2.5 gal jug, but it had been opened.

It's a good idea to put a tire repair kit together for your rig. Especially if you trail ride any.
