I did take off the interior panel, everything was rusted. I spent two weeks with PB Blaster and trying everyday to break it free with no luck. Had a few others try... It was the last resort. Spend hours researching for an answer, even posted in this forum with no replies... I did not want to cut it open... Other than the mechanism being rusted out... It was fine.
Did have that problem as far as the door opening. Was glad to find out you can remove the panel when closed.
But just pulled on the rod.
No rusted like yours.
That is a new one.
Just glad I can now let my kids ride and not be worried for their safety.

I was hoping it was that easy. I could pull the rod but it didnt do anything. With the panel on you could not unlock the door... The button wouldn't budge to unlock position... But... Did find out that the bottom of the door was rusted through... So I would have changed out the door anyway....
Just glad I can now let my kids ride and not be worried for their safety.

Not like I need it.
6 years I have owned my '00 and nobody has ever sat in the back seat.
And the chances that a child will ever be back there are pretty much none.

I set aside 30 hours to this job. Took me 43 hours to finally finish the project. I had to get it towed to a professional down the street. Idk how anybody can work on jeeps. everybody always claimed that the hardest part is popping the can of beer open. I found that to be a lie.

This past weekend I replaced the exhaust manifold that was cracked and annoying as hell. Now I have a quiet Jeep. Awesome. While I had the intake and exhaust off I took the opportunity to replace a leaking freeze plug. Odd that only one was corroded and the others looked perfect. So now I have no leaks at all since I already fixed the oil and power steering leaks. I got lucky that there were no rusted bolts so it only took a few hours and I was back on the road. Took it for a 100 mile test drive on Sunday including some off-roading and all is great. So happy.

Did some trouble shooting on the 2000 for a coolant leak that showed up after being stored for a few months. Got a loaner cooling system pressure tester and found the issue is apparently just the radiator cap leaking. System held pressure for 30 minutes but a test of the cap showed it to immediately leak a lot. That seemed too easy. While I had the tester I checked the old truck as I thought I had smelled a bit of coolant after driving but saw no obvious leaks. Since the Jeep was cheap and easy this one wants a new radiator, to create a balance in the universe I suppose. That is what I get for parking them both in the garage alone together while I was away doing some hiking and 4 wheeling in Colorado for a few days. I had the Rugged Ridge ones in my last XJ. Pretty sure they're from the same company. Worked great and held up well. Pretty sure those and the QT ones are made in the same place. I went with weathertech this time because someone on here sold their XJ and I got a killer deal on a full set.

Replacing the radiator (due to cracking), thermostat and housing, water pump, radiator hoses, and heater hoses. Old stuff is out and just waiting to get to the hardware store to replace all the rusty bolts.

So awhile back I sourced some Infinity speakers.
Backs were fine but the fronts needed to be refoamed.
So I figured I would give it a shot and it would be a learning experience.
I cleaned them up awhile back but did not get to the refoaming part till today.
I even put the 50 hertz signal though them to get the cone lined up or for whatever reason the video I watched said to do it.
They look OK I guess but I won't know for sure till I put them in.
Which won't be for at least 24 to 36 hours from now cause they have to cure.
