Cleaned up my brakes (post salty winter maintenance) and ran new airlines for my adjustable shocks. Weather man said we were going to get rained out this weekend, and then rained for like 5 minutes on Sunday. I should have been camping!

Wheel bearing
I wanted a front end alignment before my wife and I travel from Pennsylvania to the OBX for vacation. Taking the jeep to do some OVR on the beach.
A couple weeks ago I installed Bilstien 4600 shocks for a smoother ride, ditching the failed cheapo Monroes I put on several years ago.
So, when I took it in for the alignment the guy said I had to replace both front axle u joints (which I did 4 years ago) and replace the right side front wheel bearing assembly and give him a call when that's done.
I found a decent bearing assembly on Amazon for $38 and purchased 2 u joints at Advance for $28.
A couple days later I had my inspection done and my guy said my u joints were fine and the bearing had a little play.
SO TODAY I replaced the bearing. Took less than 2 hours, would've been less if not for searching for tools and bleeding the brake caliper after having to press it in to make it easier to reassemble the rotor and caliper onto the bearing.
One tip I almost forgot but remembered after beating on the old bearing trying to get it off is after taking the three bolts out place the one towards the front just in its hole but don't screw in. Take a socket extension and rest it between the bolt head and something on the axle that's solid. If you're by yourself it takes awhile to get the wheel assembly in the right position but once you find a snug fit for the extension turn the steering wheel so as to squeeze the extension between the solid object and the bolt head. As you increase pressure the wheel bearing will pop out of its seated position allowing you to easily pull it off completely.
Now that that is done I'm thinking of canceling my appointment tomorrow for the alignment (somewhere else) because I'm thinking the shimmy in the steering around 55 mph is coming from the fact that I rotated the tires for the first time in a couple years.

I finally succeeded in rewiring the e fan so that it just comes on with the ignition. You'd think that a brand spanking new fan from O Reilly's wouldn't be DOA right out of the box but lo, and behold, it was. Of course this led me to endless conclusion jumping and a considerable amount of vexing, but it's working now. I am guessing there is a break in the wire somewhere in the harness? I just used a relay from Painless, and it really was as every wire was marked clearly.
Also slapped on some new 3 inch spacers (Supreme Suspension) for the front end. Of course this is going to make me want another inch in the back so I'll be looking for shackles probably...

So one of the first things I did to my '00 XJ is put factory looking fog lights in. She did not come with them. For some reason I have trouble with the driver's side ones. The first two the glass cracked. The second one I was able to defect so I got a third one for free. About a week ago I noticed it was not working. Plugged one of the cracked ones in, Amazon let me keep the second one I defected and still sent me the fog light, and it worked. So I figure it was the bulb. Turns out so.
So the first shot is what I stole the bulb from. Notice it is not bluish inside.
Second shot is the one that is getting the bulb. Noticed it was all blue inside that one.
Anybody thinks that matters?
To be frank the factory fog lights on a Jeep suck. I run them cause I like the look.
Also I have this little theory. Ever notice how the buckets look all rusted on them?
I think that is cause they don't get used very much. I run mine for periods of time not cause I need but cause I am hoping the heat will dry up any moisture in there.
Third tough to see but the heat shrink wore off the female spade connector. Thinking that is what helped the bulb blow.
The fourth shot is funny cause the loose bulb is the one I removed. The one in the Napa blister pack looks like the exact bulb, BP1255/H3, is one I got when I bought a used Craftsman 26" box. There were some miscellaneous tools in there and that bulb. I kept not knowing any better. LOL.
So to keep the bulb from burning out cause why I think I did I put some heat shrink on it.
And it works again.

So I finally got those Infinity front speakers that I had to refoam in.
Guessing I did it right. No weird buzzing or anything that I can tell.
They do sound fuller. I compared the driver's side when I put the Infinity in to the regular one on the passenger side.
Not quite so tinny either.
I am no audiophile so.......
Now if I can just figure out how to get the Infinity amp in.
While I had everything apart I wanted to check out some other things.
In my travels from a Craigslist part out I picked up a couple of the tweeter housings sometime ago.
At some point for $10 off Ebay picked up a loose tweeter.
Then off Craigslist recently somebody was giving away loose tweeters.
Cost me $8 bucks to get them shipped to me.
So the $10 one worked. One of the $8 pair seems to have a loose wire and the other one did not work at all.
Oh well.
Also wanted to try and see if the motors in these mirrors I had worked.
For the life of me I could not separate the connectors. Figured I would bail on them before I broke something.
This comes from having these scratches in my Driver's side power/heated mirror that bugs me.
But I can replace just the glass though which I learned today.

I removed the stock XJ seats off of their rails and removed the WJ seats off of their rails then put the XJ rails on the WJ seats. From what I gathered this will only work on 95 and up (when they changed seat rail designs) XJs.
Drove it. Pass emissions for this year. Need to renew the reg. tomorrow. Didn't think it would this year, as my normal fuel of choice has made it run like crap.

I think you misunderstand. I already have power/heated mirrors on my '00. That picture in the last shot was just me trying to show how it scratched. I just want to replace that with one that is not so bad. If I replace the whole thing it will be power/heated also. But I can just replace the glass itself I come to find out.
