What did you do to your Cherokee today?
Hi, I'm a newbie here and this is my first post!
I bought a 97 xj (4.0) back in December and absolutely love it. However today was the first time I actually got the chance to give it a deep clean inside and out. 3 hours later she's looking good! However I did spot a couple of things which I hoped you'd be able to shed some light on...
1. Either side of the rear hatch are rubber grommets (for lack of a better word) which are almost completely perished. To me they look adjustable and presumably they hold the boot in position when closed? The boot doesn't rattle though. Does anyone know what they're called so I can order a couple of replacements? None of the random words I googled gave me the right part!
2. The other thing I noticed was a reasonable amount of corrosion on the passenger seat inner rear mount (where the seat bolts to the floor). Is this a common thing? Or do I have a larger issue here that needs addressing, maybe a leak or an issue underneath? I'll have to remove the carpet to get it sorted.
She's only done 75k and runs sweet. Already on my to-do list is new shocks/springs, brakes all round (and ABS sensors because it regularly kicks in thinking I've locked up when I haven't - I think a result of it doing a lot of sitting around over the last 5 years), wheel alignment and all terrain tyres. I knew about these when I bought it...

You in the US?
Using the word "boot" makes me think not.
Anyway, pretty sure this is what you are looking for.
Dorman parts are also available through most auto part stores.
At least in the US.
Is the inner the nut with the stud on the floor or a bolt?
If the bolt some corrosion doesn't surprise me.
Cause technically there is a threaded hole in your floor that the bolt goes in.
The stud kinda does.
Regardless might want give it a look.
Removing seats sometimes results in busted bolts.
Going to have to come out, with a couple other interior trim pieces, to get the carpet up enough to see.
Should not have to remove everything and should be able to peel up enough of the carpet to get a look.

Yea, about 27 usd which isn't ideal when you can get them for 6 bucks in the US.
Not sure if all parts are that much more expensive - but everywhere is shut here at the moment due to the virus. I'm sure they'll be better sources/prices around, I just need to find them!

I bought a Bosch style relay kit over a year ago and FINALLY got around to installing it along with two 15A inline fuses in the PUTCO harness. Required splicing in the Bosch style connectors replacing the PUTCO ones.

And you replaced the relay connectors and relays in the Putco with the pigtails and relays at the link?

I ask cause I am curious if you know something I don't and since I have all sorts of electrical stuff coming up this
season might want to follow your lead.
Can't remember who it was here who turned me on to this mod after I had to replace one of the BWD 4136 style relays that came with the PUTCO harness. Price was over $20 for one. You can get ten Bosch style relays at amazon for $14.95. So cost was a big factor. Also since you inquired about it I started searching about the BWD 4136 relay. Still expensive. Even cross referenced looking for cheaper alternatives. Either aren't available or still over $20.
As far as the mod goes the connectors and wires are better quality than the originals. If you look at link I posted you can see two schematic pics on the left that show inline fuses recommended between the power source and the relay. All that said one original relay was the only thing I've had to replace on the PUTCO harness since running it for how ever many years it's been since they first came out.
